  • Patent number: 9250040
Abstract: The invention relates to remotely controlling a number of devices on an instrument mounted on a rotating assembly without physical contact to the assembly. A series of infrared light-emitting diodes mounted in a stationary ring configuration are placed around (but not directly touching) the rotating assembly to send control signals to infrared receiver devices located on the assembly. The rotating assembly might be the turret of a conventional Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS), the invention to replace convention internal slip-ring providing power and control to a gun on the CROWS. The infrared data links of this invention do not inhibit the movement of the rotating assembly, and further are not susceptible to radio-jamming by electronic warfare countermeasures. Additionally, the invention includes a mount that allows auxiliary devices with Picatinny Rails™ to also be attached to such a CROWS turret.

  • Patent number: 9228788
Abstract: A magazine for a firearm is formed by a plurality of sidewalls that define a space for holding ammunition cartridges. An opening between two of the walls provides access to the space. Feed lips are positioned on opposite sides of the opening. The feed lips contact and retain the cartridges within the space. Feed ramp surfaces are positioned on opposite sides of the opening. The feed ramp surfaces are angularly oriented to tilt a cartridge so that it may be fed into the chamber of a barrel as it is pushed out of the opening along the feed ramp surfaces. Guide surfaces are positioned on opposite sides of the opening between the feed lips and the feed ramp surfaces. The guide surfaces guide the cartridge as it disengages from the feed lips and moves up along the feed ramp surfaces.

  • Patent number: 9212860
Abstract: An improve firearm rifling is provided in which the trailing edge face of the land is significantly longer than the rifling land top surface. The trailing edge angle between the trailing edge face and the level of the groove floor surface is a much smaller angle than conventional rifling land trailing edge angle, while the leading edge angle of the disclosed embodiments may be akin to a conventional rifling leading edge angle. Due to this, the present embodiments provide a rifling land profile that is nonsymmetrical, with the trailing edge face being at a much lower angle than the leading edge face which is configured in a more upright orientation.
