Abstract: The present invention provides a method for resizing windows and an apparatus for resizing windows. The method, in one embodiment, involves selecting a seam bordering a window, building a list of windows, and resizing more than one window in response to a single seam movement by a user. The apparatus, in one embodiment, is a computer readable medium comprising a computer program for resizing windows.

Abstract: A novel and non-trivial aircraft digital media entertainment system, device, and method employed therein are disclosed. A content controller is configured to receive first data initiated through a media player application installed in a first portable device configured with a mobile operating system; retrieve and stream second data responsive to the first data to the first portable device; receive third data initiated through a remote control application installed in a second portable device configured with the mobile operating system; retrieve and stream fourth data responsive to the third data to a channel processor for subsequent distribution to one or more displays; receive fifth data initiated through a cabin channel control application installed in a cabin channel controller configured with an aircraft system operating system; and retrieve and stream sixth data responsive to the fifth data to a channel processor for subsequent distribution to one or more displays.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a shared space for communicating information. In an embodiment a number of users associated with a computing environment can use a shared space to communicate information with one another. Each computing device of the computing environment can include a shared space application. The shared space application includes a number of interactive tools that can be used to persist various communications between associated computing devices of a computing environment.

Abstract: Methods for the intelligent rendering of information in a limited display environment are provided. Display environments, especially in mobile devices, are limited with regard to physical space and technical capability. The present invention provides for the scaling of information in the display in light of those limitations. Additional methods for intelligently determining information to be or not to be displayed in the environment are further provided. Determinations of information to be displayed may be a result of a user-determination or automatic determinations made by a user device. Zooming and ‘quick look’ features are also provided.

Abstract: A user interface configured to display a first set of subject data in a first image workspace on the at least one display. The user interface is further configured to provide for user selection of at least one of a plurality of subject data related to a plurality of image workspaces, attach user comments to and save user comments with the user-selected subject data in the first user-selectable tab after input of user comments, electronically mail the user-selected subject data to one or more designated recipients directly from a first user-selectable tab after input of instructions to electronically mail the user-selected subject data, and automatically open a second image workspace related to the user-selected subject data after user selection of a return link in the first user-selectable tab.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for bringing user attention to guidance information presented on a display device. These methods and systems comprise displaying guidance information in an initial animation mode, receiving a first user input in response to the displayed guidance information, determining whether the first user input satisfies validation criteria for responses to the guidance information, and displaying the guidance information in an altered animation mode when the first user input fails to satisfy the validation criteria.

Abstract: The invention provides for a system, method, and computer readable medium storing instructions related to controlling a presentation in a multimodal system. The method embodiment of the invention is a method for the retrieval of information on the basis of its content for real-time incorporation into an electronic presentation. The method comprises receiving from a presenter a content-based request for at least one segment of a first plurality of segments within a media presentation and while displaying the media presentation to an audience, displaying to the presenter a second plurality of segments in response to the content-based request. The computing device practicing the method receives a selection from the presenter of a segment from the second plurality of segments and displays to the audience the selected segment.

Abstract: A method for displaying reference waveforms to facilitate visual identification of different points such as maximum points and minimum points of an audio clip is provided. The reference waveform includes points that correspond to points on the original audio waveform, except that some or all points on the reference waveform are accentuated to easily identify the positions of the corresponding points on the audio waveform. The reference waveforms are especially useful when an audio waveform (or at least a portion of the clip) has low volume which makes the visual identification of the maximums and minimums of the waveform difficult. Displaying the reference waveform which accentuates the peaks and valleys of the original waveform facilitates the identification of these maximums and minimums.

Information other than the corresponding image may also be retrieved and displayed. Abstract: Techniques that facilitate review of bitmapped representations of text in a file are described. In some embodiments, one or more signals representative of cursor movements over a bitmapped representation of text in a bitmap image may be received. One or more selected text elements may be determined based on the cursor movements. Determining may include searching a data structure, separate from the bitmap image, which includes information regarding text element locations corresponding to the bitmapped text representation in the bitmap image. A portion of the bitmapped representation of text corresponding to the determined selected text elements may be highlighted.

Abstract: Techniques and structures that facilitate text operations in a bitmap-based document are described. In some embodiments, a bitmap image, as well as one or more data structures that may include text code data and text coordinate data, may be generated from an original document. Text coordinate data may relate a location of the text code data to a location in the bitmap image. In some embodiments, a bitmap representation of text and one or more data structures, that may include a set of coordinates of the bitmap representation of text and text code data corresponding to the set of coordinates and the bitmap image may be received. Text operations may be performed on the bitmap representation of text.

Abstract: Criterion-based feedback allows users to provide useful information in a quick and easy to understand fashion. When information for an item is relayed to a user, the user is provided with the ability to provide feedback for any criteria relating to the item. In some embodiments, this feedback takes the form of a submission of a response to a question or statement pertaining to a criterion for the item. The user is able to create new responses if the existing responses do not adequately convey the feedback that the users wishes to submit. Further, a user can also submit entirely new questions and/or statements, along with corresponding new responses, that correspond to a criterion relating to the item. Such an approach provides flexibility for users to quickly and easily provide feedback on specific criteria that might be useful for other users viewing information for that item.

Abstract: A method and system to receive a query, from over a network, and identify a first plurality of data items based on the query. The first plurality of data items including a second plurality of data items. Next, the system computes a quantity of the first plurality of data items by counting the first plurality of data items and compares the quantity of the first plurality of data items with a determined threshold to identify the quantity of the first plurality of data items as being greater than the determined threshold. Next, the system presents a user interface, over the network, to the computer system, the user interface includes the second plurality of data items, and further includes at least one user interface element responsive to the identification of the quantity of the first plurality of data items as greater than the determined threshold. Abstract: Multi-dimensional boundary effects provide visual feedback to indicate that boundaries in user interface elements (e.g., web pages, documents, images, or other elements that can be navigated in more than one dimension) have been reached or exceeded (e.g., during horizontal scrolling, vertical scrolling, diagonal scrolling, or other types of movement). A compression effect can be displayed to indicate that movement has caused one or more boundaries (e.g., a horizontal boundary and/or a vertical boundary) of a UI element to be exceeded. Exemplary compression effects include compressing content along a vertical axis when a vertical boundary has been exceeded and compressing content along a horizontal axis when a horizontal boundary has been exceeded.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for initiating communication between two users among several users while at least one of the two users is browsing a web page. User information is collected about each user among the several users. Page information is collected about what web page each user among the several users is browsing. A portion of the user information and page information for a first user and a second user is shared between the first user and the second user when a predetermined criterion is met, and request by the first user to initiate communication with the second user is processed.
