  • Patent number: 8390561
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device having a lamp driving apparatus for preventing lamps from being damaged due to electric current variation among the lamps. A DC/DC converter converts an externally provided DC voltage input into a converted DC voltage signal having a predetermined voltage level. A DC/AC inverter inverts the converted DC voltage signal into an AC voltage signal to supply the inverted AC voltage signal to an input terminal of a lamp. A power controller detects electric current flowing the lamp at an output terminal of the lamp to control the level of the inverted AC voltage signal output from the DC/AC inverter and bypasses a part of electric current applied to the input terminal of the lamp when a level of the detected electric current is higher than a predetermined threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8098217
Abstract: Any of first and second sub-field configurations is selected. In the first sub-field configuration, a width of a write pulse of a sub-field with a lowest display luminance is not more than widths of write pulses of the other sub-fields. In the second sub-field configuration, the width of the write pulse of the sub-field with the lowest display luminance is larger than the widths of the write pulses of the other sub-fields. When the first sub-field configuration is selected, a voltage applied to a sustain electrode in a write period of the sub-field with the lowest display luminance is set higher than a voltage applied to the sustain electrode in write periods of the other sub-fields. When the second sub-field configuration is selected, the voltage applied to the sustain electrode in the write period of the sub-field with the lowest display luminance is set to be the same as the voltage applied to the sustain electrode in the write period of any of the other sub-fields.

  • Patent number: 8089435
Abstract: An LCD and a display panel thereof are provided. A common voltage generation circuit of the display panel is electrically connected to at least one pixel in a non-active pixels region. According to the display voltage at a drain of a TFT in the pixel, an average of display voltages of positive and negative polarities is obtained in two frame times. The average value is regarded as a common voltage supplied to every pixel in an active pixel region in the display panel. Thereby, the problem of a drift of a feed-through voltage (?VD) of a scan voltage due to an RC delay of a parasitic-capacitance and a parasitic-resistance on the scan line can be avoided. Further, the gray-level accuracy of every pixel in the active pixel region can be improved, and the flicker-noise of the display-panel can be reduced, thus significantly promoting the display quality of the LCD.
