  • Patent number: 10650961
Abstract: An apparatus of coupled inductors includes a first coil and a second coil arranged in a way that an inter-coil capacitance between the first coil and the second coil can keep electromotive forces induced by a first inductance of the first coil and a second inductance of the second coil about the same. As the current bypasses an unbalanced parasitic capacitor, a compensation capacitor disposed between the two coils can compensate the inter-coil capacitance of the parasitic capacitor. The apparatus of coupled inductors implemented with a specific coil arrangement or disposed with the compensation capacitor can keep the EMFs induced over the two inductances equal in amplitude, which prevents both the differential-mode and common-mode interference from being converted, improving the characteristics of mode conversion and is suitable to be utilized in a PoE system or the like.

  • Patent number: 10607771
Abstract: Axisymmetric solid of revolution derivable from section at FIG. 5 is generally toroidal with electric current(s) in windings preferably flowing circumferentially along major circle(s) during power coupling device operation. Current(s) in windings, current(s) in half-shields, and the volume of space swept out by shield airgap(s) emerge from plane of paper perpendicularly at FIG. 5, but as these emerge therefrom, they curve to follow toroidal major circle(s). Core regions preferably shunt and align magnetic flux such that magnetic field lines escape therefrom primarily only in region(s) of core airgap(s) and such that magnetic flux loops lie in planes of toroidal minor circle(s). Half-shield(s) preferably have electrically conductive material(s) distributed therein as is sufficient to substantially cancel magnetic flux lines impinging thereon before effects of such impinging magnetic flux lines would reach shield airgap(s) and/or outer surface(s) of half-shields.

  • Patent number: 10553530
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a three-dimensional (3D) inductor-capacitor (LC) circuit. The 3D LC circuit includes an inductor formed by a conductive ribbon of a defined height and a conductive sleeve conductively coupled to the conductive ribbon. The conductive sleeve and the conductive ribbon can generate a built-in capacitance(s) for the 3D LC circuit. In examples discussed herein, the conductive ribbon can also help reduce the skin effect of the inductor by distributing an electrical current across the defined height of the conductive ribbon. By generating the built-in capacitance(s) and distributing the electrical current across the defined height of the conductive ribbon, it is possible to reduce current crowding and improve quality factor (Q-factor) of the 3D LC circuit. As a result, it is possible to couple one or more 3D LC circuits to form a high performance radio frequency (RF) filter(s) for the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems.
