  • Patent number: 5132519
Abstract: The heater is primarily intended for infra-red drying of travelling sheet material such as printed or lacquered paper. Parallel elongate heating elements are contained in a housing having a front window and a rear openable cover carrying a ceramic reflector behind the heating elements, which reflector also serves to insulate the cover against heat from the elements. End portions of the elements are supported in rearwardly directed clips whereby elements removal and replacement can be readily effected at the rear of the housing. The clips are carried by opposed support bars which with adjacent side walls of the housing define cooling air ducts, the bars having openings for directing cooling air onto the end portions of the elements or to enable the latter to extend into the ducts for direct cooling. The front window is provided with air venting slots parallel with the heating elements and positioned opposite spaces between the latter.

  • Patent number: 5128522
Abstract: An improved heaterboard, and method and apparatus for producing same is disclosed herein. A foil layer is bonded to a paperboard substrate and a circuit path is cut in the foil layer to define a heating circuit. In a preferred method, the circuit is defined by cut scores and short-circuiting across the cut scores is prevented by a reverse scoring operation in which the circuit pattern is scored in the surface of the heaterboard opposite the surface having the foil heating layer thereon. Various heaterboard circuit patterns and an apparatus for forming heaterboards are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5126534
Abstract: A toaster having double-wall construction controls the flow of air within its interior so that its exterior is kept cool. Air intake occurs near the edge of the top toaster slot where bread or the like is inserted for toasting. Intake air then travels down the immediate interior of the toaster and is introduced to the toasting chamber and an associated warm air flow channel near the bottom of the toaster. Air warmed by the toasting chamber and associated channel rises and pulls cooler air from below. The warm exhaust air is channelled away from the cool intake air by means of a top cover.

  • Patent number: 5077460
Abstract: A heatable turntable is provided for efficiently warming and serving food. A deck is rotatably mounted on a base. Electrical current is supplied from a power supply in the deck to thermal pads located in the deck via wires connected to sliding pole pieces attached to the base and deck. Individual thermostat is provided for each thermal pad to prevent overheating when a pad is unoccupied. Each thermal pad is located within a recess in the deck such that each pad extends out of the recess to permit air to flow between the deck and an object placed on the pad, whereby efficient heat exchange is promoted. Also, each thermal pad has a heating element comprising a resistance plate sandwiched between two mica insulation plates. The heating surface of each pad can be concave shaped towards this sandwich and has a lower lip which compresses the sandwich towards the heating surface. In addition, the sandwich is biased towards the concave heating surface by a screw actuated bracket.

  • Patent number: 5059767
Abstract: Positive temperature coefficienct thermistors are mounted in heat transfer relationship to a support member of a material that is pervious to light. The thermistors are positioned on the support member to provide a large unobstructed area through which light may pass. The self-limiting nature of the thermistors eliminates the need for a separate temperature responsive heater control switch. The heater is useable for heating liquid crystal displays, and allows back lighting of such displays by a light source positioned on the opposite side of the heater from the display.
