  • Patent number: 5848450
Abstract: An airbed having multi-zone air mattress is provided having a control that can identify the configuration of any of a plurality of hand control units connected thereto and can interpret control functions differently based on the identified unit configuration. A plurality of normally closed valves seal pressures in each of the zones when power to an air pump is off while mattress zone pressures are constantly monitored and the measurements sent by the control through a communications port for monitoring of the motion or care of a user of the bed and for analysis and diagnosis. When pump power is on, the pressure in the zones is regulated at predetermined pressure settings ideal for the user. Deviations from ideal pressure cause a programmed controller to calculate inflation or deflation times for the respective zones that would be required to inflate or exhaust the zones to the desired pressures.

  • Patent number: 5794464
Abstract: A security device which includes a locking member, a ratchet member, and a plurality of cables. The cables extend through both a fastener and a base of the locking member and are wrapped around all six sides of a book or box-like structure. The fastener is releasably snap-fitted into the base and secured therein by a pair of metal tines. The ratchet member includes a housing containing a gear and bearing member which are latched together in a spaced relationship to form a reel and a pawl. A bottom plate encloses the contents of the housing. The gear includes a multi-sided key hole, a plurality of openings to secure enlarged ends of the cables therein, and a plurality of teeth. The gear and bearing member each include an annular nub which sits in and rotates around a corresponding bearing surface of the bottom plate and housing, respectively. The pawl has a catch and a resilient spring and communicates with the gear to allow the ratchet member to be turned only in one direction.

  • Patent number: 5787739
Abstract: A device for fastening equipment subject to theft and provided with a security hole, by inserting the device in the security hole located on the outside surface of the equipment. The device consists of two identically shaped metal plates having a hooked tang protruding from one edge, and a clip member that will hold the two plates together closely. The plate tangs are inserted through the security hole so that the hooks grip the hole edges and the plates are wedged in back to back and against the equipment outer shell by the clip member. This holds the plates and hooks in place, making it impossible for either of the plates to come loose or be pulled out of the hole at the same time. A through hole is provided for attaching a cable or padlock to the fastening device, thus securing the equipment from theft.

  • Patent number: 5787525
Abstract: Proposed is a fabric mattress having a layered structure as a kind of health-promoting bedding goods, which comprises an upper fabric layer, a lower fabric layer and an intermediate fabric layer sandwiched between the upper and lower fabric layers, at least a part of these fabric layers being formed from fibers such as rayon fibers containing very fine particles of tourmaline in an amount of up to 7% by weight. This unique ingredient in the fibers has an effect to emit active electrons and far-infrared light which exhibit an invigorating effect on the human body cells of the person lying on the mattress to promote blood circulation so that even a patient lastingly lying on the bed never suffers from bedsores by using the mattress which can be constructed to have good air permeation.
