Abstract: A door latch is disclosed herein for use in cooperation with a door jamb striker plate and a door closure sliding latch which includes an elongated latch plate having a pair of lateral spaced-apart arcuate projections insertable into the opening of the striker plate so that the latch plate outwardly extends behind the door normal thereto. A notched slot is formed along the midsection of the latch plate and a securement block is slidably carried on the latch plate having a front surface adapted to butt against the adjacent edge marginal regions of the door and door jamb. The securement block includes a manually operated plunger mechanism for releasable engagement with selected ones of the notches in the slot to maintain the block in abutment with the door and door jamb.

  • Patent number: 5475996
Abstract: An electromagnetic door lock comprises generally a rectangular housing, a locking mechanism, a pair of electromagnetic components enclosed therein by a front cover and a rear cover. The front cover has a keypad and a transverse slot on an upper portion connected with an identification circuit therein. The electromagnetic component include an actuation assembly and a shift assembly, each having a movable rod opposed to each other. When a code is inputted via the keypad or the transverse slot, the identification circuit therein will transmit an electric current to the actuation assembly for and creating a magnetic field therein to disengageably force the movable rod of the shift assembly to move backward to unlock a door.

  • Patent number: 5476133
Abstract: A gate latch for a wire gate which is mounted on the upper end of a wooden post for selectively retaining the wooden post of the wire gate therein. The gate latch includes a pocket which is positioned inwardly of a pair of post retention members. The insertion of the wooden post into the pocket of the latch causes the post retention members to deflect outwardly to permit the post to be received in the latch. The post may be removed from the latch by moving one or both of the retention members outwardly with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 5474340
Abstract: A motor-vehicle door latch has a latch fork pivotal on a housing between a holding position in which it is adapted to retain a door of the vehicle closed and a releasing position in which it allows the vehicle door to be opened. A latch pawl is pivotal on the housing between a retaining position engaging the fork and retaining it in the holding position and a freeing position out of engagement with the fork and permitting it to move into the releasing position. A door handle and lock mechanism in the housing are connected to the pawl for moving the pawl into the freeing position on actuation of the handle. A locking lever connected to the mechanism is displaceable between a locked position in which it disconnects the mechanism from the pawl and prevents the mechanism from moving the pawl into the freeing position and an unlocked position in which it permits the mechanism to move the pawl into the freeing position.

  • Patent number: 5472248
Abstract: A self-centering surface bolt comprising two or more keepers, a surface bolt and two or more guides. The guides further comprise a base, a stem and a cap. The base of the guide is received within a recess in the keepers and the stem and cap of the guides are received within a channel in the surface bolt. The guides are symmetrical with respect to the channel of the surface bolt. Thus, regardless of the position of the guide with respect to the keepers or the surface bolt, the guides will have the same apparent cross section and will center the surface bolt within the keepers without resulting in the surface bolt binding with respect to the guides.

  • Patent number: 5468107
Abstract: Long and short legs have heads and pointed tips, respectively. They are joined together near their tips by welding. An upper portion above the welded portion of the long leg is formed with a cut extending obliquely upwards toward the short leg so that a thin breakable portion is formed in the long leg between the end of the cut and the contact surface with the short leg. A washer for clamping the legs above the cut is provided. When the nail is driven, the legs will not spread until the head of the short leg abuts the washer. When the head abuts the washer, the long leg slides outwards and spreads apart from the short leg near the cut. The breakable portion will thus get broken and the nail will spread.

  • Patent number: 5467617
Abstract: A boat locking apparatus is provided for a boat that has a centerboard slot which has a predetermined width and a predetermined height. The boat locking apparatus includes a lock-retaining assembly which includes a first end portion adapted for connecting with a flexible connector, which includes a mid-portion extending distally from the first end portion, and which includes a second end portion that is connected to the mid-portion. A predetermined distance which includes the first end portion, the mid-portion, and the second end portion of the lock-retaining assembly is greater than the predetermined height of the centerboard slot. The lock-retaining assembly has a width which is less than the width of the centerboard slot. An extensible lock assembly is connected to the second end portion of the lock-retaining assembly.
