  • Patent number: 8763210
Abstract: Disclosed is a locking device for a buckle. The device comprises a housing, a lever and an arm. The lever has a first strap engaging end and a locking portion. The lever is connected to the housing for movement relative to the housing. The locking portion is cooperable with the housing to be retained in it. The housing is configured to receive a strap. The arm is resiliently connected to the housing and has a second strap engaging end and a lifting end portion. The lifting end portion is disposed towards the first strap engaging end, such that in a locked position, when the locking portion cooperates with the housing, the second strap engaging end is urged into engagement with the strap. The lifting end portion contacts the first strap engaging end to lift it away from the strap.

  • Patent number: 8764364
Abstract: A system (100, 600, 700) for fastening objects to a wall or ceiling (120) comprises a rear, wall-anchor section (105, 607, 705) with a bore, and a front, pivotable section (110, 602, 604, 720), rigidly abutted together with no gap, aligned by a projection (135), and connected by a “living” hinge, strap, flap, lanyard or other type of connector (115). The pivotable section has a sharpened tip (112, 630, 635, 725) for penetrating the wall while the fastener is forced into the wall by a hammer or other driving tool or device, or manually by hand. The two sections of the fastener have a tapered, elliptical cross-section (111) which both prevents rotation of the fastener and locally reduces load-responsive pressure in the wallboard. To install, the axes of the wall-anchor and pivotable sections of the fastener are first aligned. The fastener is forced into the wall one of the above means. Then a pin (140) is manually inserted into the bore of the wall-anchor section.

  • Patent number: 8695178
Abstract: Various embodiments of slide fasteners include a first set of coupling elements and a second set of coupling elements configured to be removably joined together by a zipper. Each coupling element includes a first surface having a first shape and a second surface having a second shape, wherein the second surface is spaced apart from and cofaces the first surface. The first shape may be substantially triangular or substantially trapezoidal, according to various embodiments, and the second shape is substantially gear shaped. When the coupling elements of the first set and the second set are removably joined together, water is substantially prevented from leaking from the first surface to the second surface. In addition, the coupling elements are disposed on stringer tapes, and the surfaces of the stringer tapes adjacent the first surfaces of the coupling elements are laminated with a water resistant material.

  • Patent number: 8696286
Abstract: A pivoting hub nut, or hub clamp, for manually securing an object to a rotatable shaft provides a first hub defining a first radial slot and a second hub pivotally attached to the first hub defining a second radial slot. A first handle extends from the first hub, and a second handle extends from the second hub. A latch is disposed on the clamp for selectively locking the clamp in a closed position. An axial bore is defined along the centerline, or hub axis of rotation, of the clamp. The clamp includes a threaded region facing the axial bore for engaging corresponding threads on the shaft. Upon installation of the clamp onto the shaft, the clamp can be rotated relative to the shaft in a closed position for adjusting the longitudinal, or axial, placement of the clamp on the shaft, and the clamp can be tightened against a wheel rim or other object for securing the object on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 8662806
Abstract: A unique self-drilling anchor screw is configured so that it can be set and used to secure a first object to a second object using only one tool to save time and effort. A nut of the screw engages a nut stop when turning in reverse, thereby driving rotation of the screw in reverse. The screw has a drill bit tip adapted for drilling a hole while turning in reverse. A hole is drilled using the drill bit tip while turning the nut in reverse with a socket wrench of the one tool. After drilling the hole, the nut is turned in the forward direction with the socket wrench to engage a sleeve member of the screw, which sets the screw in the second object. Then, the nut is further turned forward using the socket wrench to tighten the nut against the first object located between the nut and the second object.

  • Patent number: 8661624
Abstract: A portable cleat of a generally two dimensional flat shape with a predetermined thickness having two arms (12) and (12A) projecting at opposite slight angles from a near central point. The arms form an ancient standard cleat shape for winding an elongated tension member (30) in multiple figure eights and finishing with an inverted loop to refrain from tying a knot. The main body (10) has a rear portion containing two apertures (18) and (20) of different sizes to adapt to various anchoring devices. The overall shape of the cleat considers the action-reaction law of physics and is specifically designed to enhance its use under kinetic tension forces. The main body also contains a plurality of holes (22) and (22A) allowing multiple cleats to be fastened together in modular fashion in order to multiply the overall strength yet maintain the designed functionality.
