  • Patent number: 9088466
Abstract: A system including a first preamble generation module, a second preamble generation module, and a packet generation module. The first preamble generation module is configured to generate a first preamble. The first preamble includes a first training field to train receivers operating at a first data rate. The second preamble generation module is configured to generate a second preamble. The second preamble includes a second training field to train receivers operating at a second data rate. The second data rate is different than the first data rate. The packet generation module is configured to generate a packet. The packet includes the second preamble followed by the first preamble in response to the packet being transmitted at the first data rate, or the first preamble followed by the second preamble in response to the packet being transmitted at the second data rate.

  • Patent number: 9083613
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method at a network device includes receiving a link layer advertisement, comparing information in the link layer advertisement with connectivity information stored at the network device, and based on the comparison, determining if there is a cabling error between the network device and a link peer transmitting the link layer advertisement. An apparatus and logic are also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 7492735
Abstract: A method and system for assigning uplink (UL) slots to optimize time division duplex (TDD) UL power. In order to assure proper power control gain, UL slots are judiciously allocated close to the beacon slot. The UL slots may be allocated based on channel sensing. All users are sorted in the order of reducing fading losses. Sorting information is also used to allocate the UL slots. The UL slots may also be allocated based on signal interference information, code usage availability estimates and spread signal interference values. Alternatively, block error rate (BLER) and signal to interference ratio (SIR) measurements may be used to allocate the UL slots.

  • Patent number: 7418241
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed relating to communications. The systems and techniques involve transmitting a signal over a plurality of time periods, receiving a plurality of parameters each relating to the signal transmission during a different one of the time periods, filtering a first one of the parameters to generate a first filtered parameter, filtering a second one of the parameters as a function of the first filtered parameter to generate a second filtered parameter, and adjusting the signal as a function of the second filtered parameter. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 7406339
Abstract: An on-chip detection circuit automatically detects when an external switch has been activated. When the device is initialized, the detection circuit measures the operating current and coverts the information into an analog voltage. The analog voltage is then processed through an on-chip analog-to-digital converter and the digitized result is stored as a reference value. To sense the open and close action of the off-chip mechanical switch, the device then takes a sample of the operating current periodically, digitizes this information and compares the sampled value to the reference value. A change in value larger than some predetermined level indicates the external switch has been activated.

  • Patent number: 7400614
Abstract: Downlink diversity in a CDMA system is provided by employing Walsh codes in conjunction with M transmit antennas at a common base station serving K mobiles, where M may or may not be to equal to K. The present invention provides methods and apparatus for improving downlink diversity in a CDMA system. Each transmit antenna transmits a signal representing the result of the modulation of Walsh codes by data signals for each of the K mobiles, assuming there is data pertaining to a particular mobile. The assignment of Walsh codes is accomplished in accordance with a transmission matrix T. The transmission matrix maps the user data symbols onto the Walsh codes for each antenna and is preferably designed such that its columns are representative of the transmit antennas and orthogonal.

  • Patent number: 7089023
Abstract: A paging method and apparatus for a mobile communication network to which at least two non-coordinated core networks are connected is disclosed, wherein a service state of a mobile station is checked, when a request for a paging message to the mobile station has been received from one of the non-coordinated core networks. Then, a multicall paging message is transmitted using an existing signalling link of the mobile station and/or mobile station location information known in a radio access network, when the mobile station is already connected to another one of the non-coordinated core networks. The checking is preferable performed by a radio network controller which is connected to the non-coordinated core networks. Thus, a paging request received form a non-coordinated core network can be supplied to a mobile station, although the paged mobile station is already connected to another non-coordinated core network.
