  • Patent number: 9366825
Abstract: An optical waveguide device module has an optical waveguide device including an optical waveguide formed in a substrate, and a control electrode for controlling light; and a connection substrate including an interconnection, provided to the outside of the waveguide device, electrically connected to the control electrode. The control electrode includes ground electrodes that sandwich a signal electrode. The connection substrate has ground lines that sandwich a signal line. A width of the signal electrode in an input or output end is smaller than a width of the signal line on the waveguide device side. A distance between inner edges of the ground electrodes closest to the signal electrode, measured at an input or output end of the control electrode, is larger than a distance between inner edges of the ground lines closest to the signal line on the waveguide device side of the connection substrate.

  • Patent number: 9360630
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to rotatable optical couplings, and more particularly to a manually separable and re-connectable optical-electrical rotary joint. The invention provides a manually separable optical-electrical rotary joint in which an optical signal and electrical signal are transmitted while a downstream component rotates relative to an upstream component, for example, as driven by a motor at the upstream component. Further, the downstream component can be easily manually unplugged from the upstream component.

  • Patent number: 8358895
Abstract: Holes 12 are created in a slab-shaped body 11. On the first surface 131 of the body 11, the holes 12 are arranged at the lattice points of a triangular lattice 141. On the second surface 132, they are arranged at the lattice points 122 located at positions corresponding to the gravity center of a triangular lattice 141. Three air columns 12A obliquely extend from each lattice point 121 to the nearest three lattice points 122. Similarly, three air columns 12A obliquely extend from each lattice point 122 to the nearest three lattice points 121. In this construction, a periodic structural unit 16 consisting of three holes is created within the body 11 and this unit has a C3v-symmetrical shape at any section 14 parallel to the body 11. Due to this symmetry and the obliquely extending form of the air column 12A, a complete PBG with a large width is obtained. In one embodiment, a broad complete PBG whose width equals 15% of its middle value is obtained.

  • Patent number: 8300166
Abstract: A display panel includes a gate line dividing a pixel region into a first region and a second region and including a gate electrode, a data line crossing the gate line and including a source electrode, a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line and including the gate electrode, the source electrode, and a drain electrode facing the source electrode, a protective layer disposed on the thin film transistor and comprising a first contact hole and a second contact hole, and first and second sub-pixel electrodes disposed on the first and second regions of the divided pixel region, respectively. The drain electrode is directly connected to the first sub-pixel electrode through the first contact hole, and the drain electrode is directly connected to the second sub-pixel electrode through the second contact hole.

  • Patent number: 7822306
Abstract: A robust fiber optic cable is well suited for harsh environments, such as undersea environments, as a communication link to a mobile undersea vehicle. In preferred embodiments, the fiber optic cable is constructed to have neutral buoyancy in salt water. The fiber optic cable may include one single mode optical fiber. A suspension fluid, such as light mineral oil surrounds the optical fiber. In an optional embodiment, a plurality of strength members also surrounds the optical fiber and these elements are surrounded by an outer jacket. In another optional embodiment, the optical fiber and suspension fluid may be loosely surrounded by an inner containment tube, a plurality of strength members surrounds the inner containment tube, and these elements are surrounded by an outer jacket, which may be bonded to the inner containment tube.
