Abstract: A reserve parachute is provided with air pockets at the apex of the canopy to allow rapid deployment of the reserve parachute without tangling with a malfunctioning main parachute. Skirt assist lines are provided to allow the lower edge of the canopy to spread on deployment and thus speed the opening of the canopy. In addition, ties may be provided between the pockets to maximize their effectiveness.
Abstract: The present invention includes a device for enabling a pilot to maintain a conscious state at a high G-force. The device comprises a platform and seat radially movable about an axis. The device also comprises a mechanism for moving the platform in order to optimize the position of the pilot with respect to the G-force so that the pilot is conscious.
Abstract: A position indicating and distance gauging device is provided for the purpose of preventing impact or collision of a vehicle or an object, such as a trash dumpster, carried by a vehicle with a wall or barrier, such as a dumpster enclosure. The device includes an indicator arm retained in a generally vertical orientation and biased away from the barrier or wall, and a bracket mounted to the wall or other structure at a height at which distance markings provided on an upper face of a flange portion of the device will be readily visible to a vehicle operator in a vehicle that is approaching the barrier.
Abstract: A storable diver's flag which is visible in substantially all directions. The flag includes three flexible rectangular panels connected to one another along a common central seam between the panels. The panels are thus radially extendable to an in-use position from the central seam at generally equal radial angles between adjacent panels whereby diver down indicia on both surfaces of the panels allow the upright in-use flag and indicia to be seen from any direction. Wire support members extending diagonally across each panel keeps the panels extended and upstanding in use. Two equal length wire braces each of which extend between adjacent panels in close proximity to the central seam urge the panels into the in-use position.
Abstract: A level sensor offset mounting mechanism that mounts in the tank fill pipe of an underground fuel tank and provides an offset for the lower level sensor portion from the drop tube. The level sensor offset mounting mechanism connects to an inner wall of the tank fill pipe by a connector. A conduit extends vertically downward from the connector to a position below the top of the tank. At the lower end of the conduit, a selectively rotatable offset device provides a horizontal offset away from the drop tube. The offset device may be rotated to an insertion position, wherein no offset is provided, to facilitate insertion, or extraction, of the level sensor into the tank. Connected to the offset device at an end distal the connection to the upper portion, the lower portion of the level sensor measures the fuel and water levels within the tank.
Abstract: A self contained plumb bob and ink line marker with a line capable of automatic braking and retracting, comprising a hollow housing wherein a line reel, in combination with an adjustable spring-loaded line retraction and braking mechanism, allows a flexible member to be manually extended from the reel by a tacking device for attachment of the apparatus to a reference point. The flexible member is coated with ink upon extension from the reel when the flexible member passes over an ink absorbent member enclosed inside the housing. The housing of the apparatus has a tapered point on one end and serves as a plumb bob weight for indicating verticals when the apparatus is suspended by the tacking device. For purposes of marking lines, the ink coated flexible member can be held taught between the tacking device and notches around the circumference of an aperture through which the flexible member exits the housing, pulled upwardly and quickly released to leave a clean, thin line on the adjacent surface.
Abstract: The present invention provides a sizing guide for assisting in the initial determination of an appropriate size of respirator mask for a user thereof. The sizing guide has at least a first sizing gap having a known width such that comparison of the width of the first sizing gap with the length between a pair of facial landmarks such as the sellion landmark and the menton landmark provides an initial determination of the appropriate size respirator mask for the user which can then be fit tested. Preferably, the sizing guide also has a second sizing gap having a known width different from the width of the first sizing gap.
