Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are provided for database diagnostics. A specification of a target database system may be processed. A diagnostic tool, corresponding to a plug-in for transmission to the target database system, may be created. A script may be selected to conditionally execute on the target database system when detected values of a monitored parameter satisfy conditional criteria. A plug-in structure that encapsulates modules of the plug-in may be defined. The diagnostic tool may be transmitted via a network to the target database system to cause the diagnostic tool to be executed on the target database system. The execution of the diagnostic tool may include executing a first iteration of the plug-in based on a first threshold specified by conditional criteria, and executing a subsequent iteration of the plug-in based on a subsequent threshold specified by the conditional criteria after the conditional criteria has been adjusted.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for enhancing a classification system to include an automatic classification validation system. The automatic classification validation system takes the classification results and automatically validates them for correctness. More specifically, the automatic classification validation system analyzes the data objects in the categories and, if any outliers are identified, then determines a context of the data object from a plurality of records contained within a certain category to determine the context. The classification validation system then uses the context of the data object to validate the classification.

Abstract: Methods and systems allow indexing references to documents of a database according to database reference profiles. Documents may then be located in the database using decoding protocols based on the database reference profiles. To this end, the documents are stored in the database and searchable terms extracted therefrom are associated with posting lists. Each posting list is divided into blocks of M database references. The blocks are encoded according to a pattern that depends on the M database references. A corresponding pointer to a table of encoding patterns is appended to each block. When a query is received for a searchable term, blocks are extracted from a posting list corresponding to the searchable term and a pointer for each block is used to extract a decoding protocol related to an encoding pattern for the block.

Abstract: Replicated instances in a database environment provide for automatic failover and recovery. A monitoring component can obtain a lease enabling the component to periodically communicate with, and monitor, one or more data instances in the data environment, where the data instance can be a replicated instance including a primary and a secondary replica. For a large number of instances, the data environment can be partitioned such that each monitoring component can be assigned a partition of the workload. In the event of a failure of a monitoring component, the instances can be repartitioned and the remaining monitoring components can be assigned to the new partitions to substantially evenly distribute the workload.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method is provided for searching similar documents. Here, a document is accessed and terms from a metamodel semantic network is identified. The document is analyzed to identify a number of the terms from the metamodel semantic network that are also found in the document, and to identify a frequency of occurrence in the document for each term. A search is conducted for other documents having frequencies of occurrences that are similar to the identified frequency of occurrence. These other documents have been previously analyzed using the same terms from the metamodel semantic network.

Abstract: Various arrangements for performing an online migration between server systems is presented. A transfer, from a source server system to a target server system, of a database, may be initiated. During the transfer, the database of the source server system may remain online. A timing indication of when transfer of the database was initiated may be recorded. While transferring the database, modifications to the records of the database may be received. The plurality of modifications may be stored, and, for each modification of the plurality of modifications, a timing indication of when the modification was received may be stored. After completing the transfer of the database to the target server system, the plurality of modifications to the database stored by the target server system may be applied while the source server system is online.

Abstract: The different advantageous embodiments provide a method for identifying changes in data sets. An ending version for a data set is received. A beginning version for the data set is identified. The ending version for the data set is compared with the beginning version for the data set. A number of differences is calculated between the ending version and the beginning version. A data structure is created that identifies the number of differences between the ending version and the beginning version.

Abstract: A method and system of verifying data stored in a database, by polling one or more computing devices. A server generates a poll object for a data item and a poll notification is transmitted to the one or more computing devices, whereupon users of the computing devices may respond to the poll notification and transmit responses. A set of response notifications is received and the server determines if the set of response notifications satisfies a quorum criterion. If the quorum criterion is satisfied, the server determines a data verification result, based on a tally criterion.

Abstract: A third party facilitates exchange of customer data between first and second entities while maintaining customer privacy. Personally identifiable information (PII) and first entity customer attributes of a first set of customers are received from a first entity. PII for a second set of customers is received from a second entity. First and second set common customers are identified using the PII of the first and the second set of customers. Subsequently, a list of third set of customers is sent to the second entity. The list of third set of customers includes the common customers and a plurality of other customers from the second set of customers. Second entity customer attributes are received for each customer in the list of third set of customers. Further, the first entity customer attributes of the common customers and the second entity customer attributes of the common customers are linked.

Abstract: A plurality of data records that comprise a data set can be stored in a plurality of main part fragments such that each main part fragment includes a subset of the set of data records. Each fragment of the plurality of main part fragments can be assigned a relative data temperature. A newly arrived data record for storage in the data set can be placed in a delta part, and a merge can be performed to add the newly arrived data record to a corresponding main part fragment. The performing of the merge can occur more quickly if the corresponding main part fragment has a higher relative data temperature than if the corresponding main part fragment has a lower relative data temperature.

Abstract: Predicting user responses to items is useful in many application domains, such as personalized information retrieval and recommendation systems. In an embodiment a contacts service identifies contacts of a target user and predictions are elicited from the contacts about the target user's response to an item. In various examples, the predictions are combined taking into account weights of the contacts to produce a prediction of the target user's response. For example, the response may be one or more of: a numerical rating, a word or phrase describing the targets user's opinion of the item and a word or phrase stating a reason that the target user holds the opinion. In examples, accuracy of the predictions is calculated after observing the target user's actual response. The accuracy may be used to calculate and display scores and rankings of the contact's prediction abilities and to update the weights of the contacts.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a database administrator composing an abstract query with visibility to logical fields that are permitted for the delegated roles. In one embodiment, a query interface is configured to receive administrator selections of delegated roles (i.e., the user roles to be provided with access to the finished abstract query). The query interface may then present the administrator with logical fields that are permitted for each delegated role. Providing such information may enable the administrator to verify that all intended users will have access to the finished abstract query.

Abstract: Systems and methods for synchronizing workspaces in a web-based collaboration environment with local folders on computers of collaborators of the workspaces are disclosed. Collaborators of a workspace can edit copies of work items either at the collaboration environment server or at the computer. Updates to all synchronized folders are automatically performed. Conflicts between edits made by different collaborators to the same file are flagged, and a notification is sent to the author attempting to make edits to a version of a file that has already been updated by another collaborator.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus permits editing of information held by an existing node in a version control graph that contains a plurality of nodes, each of which is assigned an identifier corresponding to information held by the node. The information processing apparatus detects, upon merging a first branch and a second branch contained in the version control graph, a previous merged data set that is generated from a data set of a first version referred to by a node of the first branch and a data set of a second version referred to by a node of the second branch, on the basis of history information. The information processing apparatus generates a new merged data set by merging the first branch and the second branch, using the detected merged data set.
