  • Patent number: 5467907
Abstract: The invention is a hunter's personal safety game pack and method of making it. The game pack is especially designed for the wild turkey, with a bloodproof bottom pouch, a No-See-Um mesh drawstring bag top, and a shoulder harness. The wild turkey is a large bulky bird, weighing approximately 10 kilograms. It is cumbersome and messy, a burden to carry without a game pack. Carrying a wild turkey using one hand in the traditional over-shoulder position puts the hunter in a very dangerous situation. Carrying his gun with one hand is not recommended for safe gun handling; the exposed turkey on his back invites other hunters to shoot at the turkey and possibly shoot the otherwise successful turkey hunter in the back or head. Perhaps even more important, Lyme ticks may be transferred from turkey to hunter, with risk of the disabling and sometimes fatal Lyme disease. The taken turkey must cool quickly to avoid spoilage. The No-See-Um mesh top permits cooling ventilation without permitting any ticks to pass.

  • Patent number: 5460285
Abstract: A pressure relief venting lid for sealing an opening and providing pressure regulation of a container. The lid has a support plate attached by four angularly spaced spring assemblies to a port cover for sealing a filler opening in a manway cover for the container. The support plate overlies the port cover for fixedly supporting the spring assemblies and cover while protecting the springs and cover from impact or shock. The spring assemblies are disposed between the support plate and port cover for sealing the cover against the opening and allowing the cover to unseat from the opening to regulate the pressure within the container. The spring assemblies are offset equal distances from the center of the port cover to minimize bending moments that the cover may be subjected to. The generally circular port cover has a convex dished portion for strengthening the port cover to maintain the seal with the opening while under load.

  • Patent number: 5460283
Abstract: A polyethylene cap, for use with containers, particularly polypropylene containers for containing medical specimens in preservative fluid such as formaldehyde, is provided with a 3-face seal, wherein a rim portion of the container is trapped in sealing, contacting relation on three mutually adjoining faces, whereby any tendency of the container rim to "relax" out of sealing engagement with a contacting face portion of the cap is effectively precluded by the fit and the geometry of the cap seal. In the case of polypropylene, which is susceptible to such "relaxation", the subject cap enables the effective sealing of polypropylene containers so that advantage may be taken of the superior properties of polypropylene in non-reactive, secure containment of possibly contaminated medical specimens in liquids such as formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.

  • Patent number: 5445284
Abstract: The screw-thread neck of a container, e.g. a glass bottle, has a closure with a tamper-evident ring connected to the lower end of the skirt of the closure by frangible bridges. Opposite the ring, the neck finish of the container has a nose-shaped projection the upper and lower flanks of which meet in a sharp edge, and has an annular groove below the projection. The bridges are formed in an inwardly facing groove above the projection and are radially spaced from the outer surface of the neck finish. The tamper-evident ring is swaged into close contact with the projection, is deformed into a channel on the neck finish below projection, and is closely engaged with the surface of the neck finish below the channel. Interference involving outward prying movement by a lever on the lower edge portion of the ring to disengage the ring from groove causes a pivoting action about the tip of projection leading to fracture of the bridges.
