Abstract: A solid drawing material containing a gel-forming substance of an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 8 to 36 carbon atoms, an alkoxylated nitrogen-containing compound, a reduced starch saccharide, and a coloring agent. The solid drawing material which is in the form of a stick features a large strength, a small drawing resistance, is less subject to be collapsed or broken, produces little shavings while drawing, makes it possible to favorably form a drawing even on smooth surfaces such as windowpanes, and of which the traces after drawn can be easily wiped out with a wet cloth.
Abstract: An ink-jet recording ink which contains water, a coloring material and a surfactant, wherein the surfactant is in a content of from 0.6 to 5% by mass in the ink, and the ink further contains a block compound represented by the following formula (I): HO—(EO)a—(PO)b—(EO)c—H??(I) wherein EOs each represent an ethylene oxide moiety; PO represents a propylene oxide moiety; a, b and c satisfy a?0, 2?b?12, c?0 and 1?a+c?60; and the ethylene oxide moiety/-ies in one molecule is/are in a proportion of from 20 to 80% on the basis of mass. Also disclosed are an ink-jet recording process and an ink-jet recording apparatus which make use of this ink.
Abstract: Pre-treatment compositions include organic liquids and cross-linking initiators. Pre-treatment compositions are included in ink sets that also include oil-based ink compositions. Oil-based ink compositions include organic liquids, unsaturated fatty materials having terminal polar functional groups, colorants, and metal salts. Methods for ink-jet printing use pre-treatment compositions and oil-based ink compositions.
Abstract: An ink for ink-jet recording is provided, which makes it possible to obtain vivid recorded matters by satisfying both of the prevention of the feathering and the prevention of the bleeding even when the recording is performed on regular paper. The ink for ink-jet recording contains a self-dispersing type microparticulate coloring agent, a surfactant, and water. When the surface tension is plotted in the vertical axis, and the concentration of the surfactant is plotted in the horizontal axis, then the correlation between the surface tension and the concentration of the surfactant can be represented by a correlation curve which has one inflection point and which has two local maximum points of curvature on both sides of the inflection point one by one. Further, the ink for ink-jet recording contains the surfactant at a concentration which is higher than a concentration corresponding to the local maximum point of the curvature on the low concentration side.
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink composition comprising a metal flake-containing metallic pigment, a glycol ether and an organosiloxane-based surfactant.
Abstract: A surface coating composition which exhibits low solar absorption and preferential emission at wavelengths corresponding to atmospheric windows in the infra-red regions is provided by the addition of microspheres to a composition containing a solar reflective pigment.

Abstract: The phase change ink a viscosity of from about 4 mPa-s to about 50 mPa-s at a first temperature and has a viscosity of from 104 mPa-s to about 109 mPa-s at a second lower temperature. The second temperature may be below the first temperature by at least 10° C. but by no more than 50° C. The first temperature may be from about 60° C. to about 110° C. and the second temperature may be from about 20° C. to about 70° C. A curve of log10 viscosity of the phase change ink plotted against temperature in degrees Celsius may have a slope having an absolute value less than 0.02 at the first temperature and have a slope having an absolute value greater than 0.08 for at least a region second temperatures.
