Abstract: A method of producing an ink-jet ink containing the steps in the order named: (a) dispersing colorant particles, a dispersing agent, and a solvent mixture containing water and a water-soluble organic solvent so as to obtain a dispersion of the colorant particles; (b) filtering the dispersion of the colorant particles using a hollow fiber filter; and (c) applying ultrasonic degassing treatment to the filtered dispersion of the colorant particles to obtain the ink-jet ink, wherein a content of oxygen in the ink-jet ink is not more than 2 ppm based on the total weight of the ink-jet ink.
Abstract: An ink set for an image recording apparatus, includes a first ink, and a second ink which has the same color base as that of the first ink but is different from the first ink in density. A coloring material having a color base different from that of the first ink is mixed in the second ink in such a manner that a hue thereof approximates a hue of the first ink.
Abstract: A printing ink for use within multiple ambient temperatures which comprises a mixture of two or more inks having different viscosities at a given temperature. Thus, one or more lower viscosity inks having, for example, a viscosity in the range of about 300 cps to about 900 cps is mixed with one or more higher viscosity inks having, for example, a viscosity range of about 1100 cps to about 1800 cps to provide a multi-viscosity ink mixture useful over a wide temperature range.

Abstract: Disclosed are jet ink compositions suitable for printing on substrates such as plastics and oil contaminated metals messages having excellent adhesion, for example, scratch resistance. The jet ink composition comprises one or more organic solvents, a rosin resin, and a colorant, and optionally a co-binder resin, e.g., a vinyl resin. Preferably, the jet ink composition is free or substantially free of a cellulose nitrate resin and/or a slow evaporating solvent. The present invention further provides a method for printing scratch resistant messages on a low surface energy substrate comprising projecting a stream of droplets of the jet ink composition to the substrate, controlling the direction of the stream so that the droplets are caused to form the desired printed messages, and allowing the messages to dry.
