Abstract: A waterborne coating composition including a novel polymer latex and methods of preparing the polymer latex for the waterborne coating composition. The disclosed polymer latex, when incorporated into the waterborne coating composition, reduces gloss, and achieves a matte appearance without the need for and/or with reduced amounts of traditional inorganic matting additives. In one approach, the polymer latex disclosed herein includes latex particles having a core/shell arrangement configured to not only participate in film formation but also impact surface morphology of dried films to produce the low gloss coatings.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a resin composition and an epoxy resin composition for display comprising the resin composition. More particularly, the present invention provides a transparent epoxy material that can be applied by various methods such as ink-jetting, dispensing, etc. to fill a gap by spraying a low-viscosity liquid and then be cured. The transparent epoxy material generates a little amount of gas during curing, has high reliability at high temperature and high humidity after curing so that there is no cracking between layers, and can be used in applications such as molding and bonding of glass parts of organic or inorganic light emitting display.

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a method of producing a fine particulate inorganic oxide dispersion, which makes it possible to easily disperse a fine particulate inorganic oxide while reducing the amount of dispersant used. The present invention relates to a method of producing a fine particulate inorganic oxide dispersion, the method including mixing the following components (A) to (D): (A) at least one fine particulate inorganic oxide selected from the group consisting of zirconium oxide (ZrO2), titanium oxide (TiO2), and barium titanate (BaTiO3), (B) a dispersant, (C) an alkoxysilane compound, and (D) a solvent having the following Hansen solubility parameters: a hydrogen bonding component (dH) of 11 or less and a polar component (dP) of 4 or more; and wet grinding the resulting mixture.
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced resin composite and method of making the same. The fiber-reinforced resin composite includes a polymeric resin matrix and a plurality of fibers coated with a first distortional polymeric resin. The polymeric resin matrix has a first von Mises strain. The first distortional polymeric resin has a second von Mises strain in a range of approximately 0.25 to approximately 0.45. The plurality of fibers coated with the first distortional polymeric resin are disposed in the polymeric resin matrix. The second von Mises strain is greater than the first von Mises strain.

Abstract: A concentrated nanocomposite dispersion which includes a silicate filler and a matrix polymer dispersed in an aqueous medium. The dispersions are condensed by selectively removing liquid therefrom, to provide high solids coating formulations. The concentrated formulations provide coatings which are good barriers to oxygen and other gases.
