  • Patent number: 9319620
Abstract: A light emission portion of a video signal is detected, and the display intensity of the light emission portion is enhanced for emphasis display. At this moment, the intensity stretch amount is controlled in accordance with a status of video black display, thereby increasing the feeling of brightness and hence improving the video quality. An area-active-control/luminance-stretching portion stretches and increases the intensity of a backlight portion on the basis of an index related to a brightness calculated, on the basis of a predetermined condition, from the input video signal, and lowers the video signal intensity of the non-light emission part excluding the light emission part. At this moment, the area-active-control/luminance-stretching portion changes, in accordance with a black display amount detected by a black detection portion, a control curve that defines the relationship between the index related to the brightness and the stretch amount.

  • Patent number: 9282325
Abstract: Apparatus for evaluating optical components and systems that uses a precision compact mirror support structure to present to an optical system or electro-optical system (e.g., a camera) multiple images of at least one optical evaluation target over a wide field to allow assessment of the performance or alignment of the optical or electro-optical system over its intended field of use. The mirror support structure generates multiple images of an optical evaluation target by providing multiple folded optical paths between the target and the desired field locations of the test optic. The mirrors employed may either be parallel or at angles with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 9269006
Abstract: A dynamic expansion operation of an index value image is performed by specifying an index value range before correction (Gmin to Gmax) for one index value image, calculating magnification K for which to be expanded to an ideal index value range (0 to 1023), and correcting an index value before correction G by the magnification K. An effective magnification Kthre to expand a maximum effective index value range (215 to 747) that can be taken by the index value before correction G calculated from transmittance of a filter to the ideal index value range (0 to 1023) is stored, and in a case where the calculated magnification K is smaller than the effective magnification Kthre, the expansion operation is performed by use of the effective magnification Kthre.

  • Patent number: 9264702
Abstract: An apparatus for calibrating an augmented reality (AR) device having an optical see-through head mounted display (HMD) obtains eye coordinates in an eye coordinate system corresponding to a location of an eye of a user of the AR device, and obtains object coordinates in a world coordinate system corresponding to a location of a real-world object in the field of view of the AR device, as captured by a scene camera having a scene camera coordinate system. The apparatus calculates screen coordinates in a screen coordinate system corresponding to a display point on the HMD, where the calculating is based on the obtained eye coordinates and the obtained object coordinates. The apparatus calculates calibration data based on the screen coordinates, the object coordinates and a transformation from the target coordinate system to the scene camera coordinate system. The apparatus then derives subsequent screen coordinates for the display of AR in relation to other real-world object points based on the calibration data.
