Abstract: In embodiments, apparatuses, methods and storage media are described that are associated with alignment of closed captions. Video content (along with associated audio) may be analyzed to determine various times associated with speech in the video content. The video content may also be analyzed to determine various times associated with closed captions and/or subtitles in the video content. Likelihood values may be associated with the determined times. An alignment may be generated based on these determined times. Multiple techniques may be used, including linear interpolation, non-linear curve fitting, and/or speech recognition matching. Quality metrics may be determined for each of these techniques and then compared. An alignment for the closed captions may be selected from the potential alignments based on the quality metrics. The closed captions and/or subtitles may then be modified based on the selected alignment. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for evaluating video quality based on a hybrid type which, when bit stream data is received, extracts first evaluation parameters based on the received bit stream data to calculate a preliminary video quality score based on the first extracted evaluation parameters and then extracts second evaluation parameters, and calculates a final video quality score by adjusting the preliminary video quality score based on the second extracted evaluation parameters and methods thereof.

Abstract: Provided is a luminance measurement method for accurately measuring luminance of each pixel even if pixel images of a display panel overlap each other on an imaging surface of a camera. A central exposure factor indicating luminance of the central part of the pixel image is calculated on the basis of an output of a picture element corresponding to the central part. A peripheral exposure factor indicating luminance of the peripheral part of the pixel image is calculated on the basis of an output of picture elements corresponding to the peripheral part of the pixel image is calculated, all pixels of the display panel are sorted into a plurality of groups, sequentially turned on one group after another, and imaged by the camera, and the luminance of all the pixels of the display panel is calculated based on this imaged image, the central exposure factor, and the peripheral exposure factor.
Abstract: A machine vision inspection system comprises an optical portion providing an image of a field of view of a workpiece which may be a magnified image. A first camera and a second camera provide first and second images of a shared or common field of view of the workpiece and are arranged such that the orientation of the common field of view imaged in the first camera is rotated relative to the orientation of the common field of view imaged in the second camera. Signal processing provides an edge measurement of an edge feature within the common field of view and determines which of the first and second images is used as a basis for the edge measurement based on whether their respective edge orientation (with respect to the pixel array of each camera) differs from the pixel array orientation of their associated camera by an orientation difference threshold amount.
Abstract: An image apparatus and a method for receiving a video signal are provided. The image apparatus includes dedicated input terminals for receiving only particular video signals, and a common input terminal for receiving diverse video signals, and determines the format of video signals input through a corresponding input terminal and then displays the determined format on a screen. Accordingly, the number of input terminals can be reduced and the user can identify the format of the video signal input through the common input terminal.
Abstract: An activity recognition method, for recognizing continuous activities of several moving objects in the foreground of a video, includes: capturing and processing a training video to get a contour of a moving object; extracting a minimum bounding box of the contour in order to get parameters then transfer to feature vectors; constructing a decision tree model based on support vector machines (SVMs), for classifying the activities of the moving object according to the parameter and the feature vector of the training video; capturing and processing a testing video to get other parameters and using several formulas to generate feature vectors, and executing an algorithm for recognizing the activities of several moving objects in the foreground of the testing video. Said feature vectors are transformed from the parameters that in the testing and training videos. Via above descriptions, the method can recognize activities of foreground objects in the testing video.

Abstract: A display apparatus and a control method which receives a user's input by using a manipulation panel are provided. The display apparatus includes: an image processor; a display unit; a user input unit which includes a manipulation panel; and a controller which controls the display unit to display a user interface (UI) including a number keypad upon receiving a preset user's input from the user input unit and receives a user's selection to select a channel number from the number keypad according to a user's input to the direction key. Thus, the direction keys are provided in the manipulation panel installed in a front or lateral side of the display apparatus and a user may input a desired channel number without difficulty when selecting channels through the manipulation panel.
Abstract: Content comprising audio and video may be processed by different processing pipelines, but latencies between these pipelines may differ due to differences in data compression, processing loads, and so forth. The time between entry and exit from the pipeline of a frame is measured to determine pipeline latency. The pipeline latency may be used to shift timing of audio frames, video frames, or both, such that they are synchronized during presentation.
Abstract: A digital cinema signal is encoded to produce a resulting coded digital cinema bitstream. Decoding the resulting coded digital cinema bitstream allows backwards-compatible delivery of digital cinema content. A digital image or video signal is preprocessed to produce two normalized digital image or video signals of differing quality levels and forward and inverse mapping parameters, which relate the normalized digital image or video signals. The preprocessing can be used prior to the encoding of a digital cinema signal to enable backwards-compatible delivery of digital cinema content.
Abstract: In an example, a method for automated camera flat fielding and alignment may include determining a magnification of a camera relative to a first camera axis that is generally parallel to a first print media axis by evaluating first and second magnifications between transitions from a first color to a second color on a setup plot. The method may further include determining, by a processor, a rotation of the camera relative to the first camera axis such that the first magnification is approximately equal to the second magnification.

Abstract: A television channel scan method involves successively scanning a sample number of channels within a first television channel plan to determine whether or not any channel was detected by sequentially tuning the channels at a tuner. If at least one channel is detected in the first television channel plan: then retrieving a map for all channels in the first television channel plan, and selecting all channels within the first television channel plan as channels available for a user to tune. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: A system for providing video upon request may transmit encrypted video information to one or more recipients for viewing at a later time. The recipient may make a request to view one of the received video files. This request may be provided to a video transmitter which may provide, in return, video decryption information to allow immediate viewing of the previously received video transmission.
