Abstract: Various systems and methods for restoring data using indexes. For example, one method involves receiving a request that includes a restore criterion. The method involves identifying a storage object in a backup storage device that meets the restore criterion, in response to the request. Detecting the identity of the storage object involves sending a query with the restore criterion to a client computing device that includes an index. The method also involves responding to the request with information identifying the storage object.

A server f has a graphical user interface application for creating and editing service models. The application receives user-entered search criteria and searches information in the database based on the criteria. The search criteria can include a name, type, attribute, and other information of the resources. In addition, the search criteria can be a user-entered search query entered that has one or more logical or Boolean conditions relating resource attributes to attribute values. Using information obtained through searching, the application is used to create at least a portion of a service model of the computer network service. Once created, the application is used to initiate publishing of at least a portion of the service model to one or more impact managers of the computer network service.

Abstract: A mechanism is provided for efficiently searching a database for data associated with a key value that is unidentifiable in a set of nodes of the database. A request is received to retrieve data from the database, where the request specifies a searched-for key value that is unidentifiable in the set of nodes of the database. The data associated with the searched-for key value is identified in a lowest level node of the database between a current leftmost node and a current rightmost node. A key index is updated in at least one node of the database with the key index value associated with the data and identified from the lowest level node thereby making the searched-for key value identifiable within the at least one node. The data associated with the searched-for key value is then returned to a user.

Abstract: A data representation that represents source data at a data source can be maintained. A request to perform an edit can be received from a client, and a request to make the edit to the source data can be sent to the data source. The edit can be optimistically applied to the data representation. Additionally, a change notification can be sent to the client. The change notification can indicate one or more changes to the data representation, where the change(s) resulted from the application of the edit to the data representation. A notification can be received from the data source after applying the edit to the data representation and after sending the change notification. The notification from the data source can indicate whether the edit to the source data succeeded.

Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling requests to access data may adjust the priority of such requests based on the presence of de-duplicated data blocks within the requested set of data blocks. A data de-duplication process operating on a storage device may build a de-duplication data map that stores information about the presence and location of de-duplicated data blocks on the storage drive. An I/O scheduler that manages the access requests can employ the de-duplicated data map to identify and quantify any de-duplicated data blocks within an access request. The I/O scheduler can then adjust the priority of the access request, based at least in part, on whether de-duplicated data blocks provide a large enough sequence of data blocks to reduce the likelihood that servicing the request, even if causing a head seek operation, will not reduce the overall global throughput of the storage system.

Abstract: Provided is a method of converting a medical image used in a network at a patient care facility, the network including an enterprise network storage solution optionally dedicated for storing medical images in a standardized medical imaging format that are to be retrieved over the network. The method includes us a computer system to search a portable computer-readable medium for an indication that the medical image is stored in a proprietary format on the portable computer-readable medium. The proprietary format of the medical image is identified, using the computer system, based on the indication. The medical image is converted into a format that is compliant with a standardized medical-imaging format, transmitted in the standardized medical-imaging format to be: (i) subsequently displayed by a display device without requiring prior storage of the medical image in an enterprise storage solution for medical images, and/or (ii) stored in the enterprise storage solution.

Abstract: A high resolution video signal is divided by video division means into a main signal and a sub signal, and the main signal and the sub signal are MPEG-encoded. The stream of the main signal and the stream of the sub signal are divided into 1 GPO or more of frames. First interleave blocks each including 1 GOP or more of the stream of the main signal and second interleave blocks each including 1 GOP or more of the stream of the sub signal are recorded on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces both the first and second interleave blocks to obtain a high resolution video output. A non-high quality picture reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave blocks to obtain a standard resolution video output.

User input establishes one or more rules to prioritize a feed item, wherein at least one of the one or more rules incorporates the input data. Such user input may include user-created data or feed metrics. The one or more rules may be weighted. Additional user input configures one or more message cues. A plurality of feed items are prioritized based on the one or more rules. The plurality of feed items are associated with a plurality of feeds, wherein each feed is associated with an object stored in a database system. The plurality of feed items are then displayed in combination with the one or more message cues to a plurality of users of the database system.

Abstract: A method for context-based query formulation and information retrieval and aggregation is described. The method includes modeling one or more workflow activities utilized to perform work tasks, preparing at least one meta-querying template, to generate queries that utilize the modeled workflow activities, retrieving information relevant to the work task as determined utilizing the at least one meta-querying template, and aggregating the retrieved information for presentation to the user.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for editing a composite presentation in a media-editing application. The method receives a media file to import into the media-editing application from an external device. The method creates a set of media clip data structures to represent the media file. At least one of the data structures references the media file on the external device. Before the media file is imported from the external device, the method uses the media clip data structure to edit a composite presentation with the media file. After the media file is imported from the external device, automatically modifying the data structure to refer to a copy of the media file on a local device.

Abstract: A method for generating a bigram database may include receiving domain names, tokenizing the domain names, generating token bigrams from the tokenized domain names, filtering the token bigrams, ranking the token bigrams, and storing the filtered and ranked token bigrams in a bigram database. A method for suggesting alternative domain names may include receiving a requested domain name, tokenizing the requested domain name to divide the requested domain name into a series of tokens, retrieving token bigrams for tokens of the requested domain name, generating alternative domain name suggestions based on the token bigrams and the requested domain name, ranking the alternative domain name suggestions, and outputting at least one of the alternative domain name suggestions.
