Thus, on the basis of printing data included in the issued printing job, the printer prints the data of each of plural pages on a one transparent recording sheet in color as the presentation material, and further prints the data of predetermined number of pages in monochrome for the number of copies of printing set so that the data of the predetermined number of pages are put on a one plane paper as the distribution material.

Abstract: When user specifies a desired minimum font size through a host computer 2, and issues a print instruction to a printer 3, a recommended N-up number operating section 37 of the printer 3 performs an arithmetic operation to obtain a maximum N-up number with which font size not larger than the desired minimum font size are not included. A printing section 35 of the printer 3 prints the obtained N-up number of sheets of original document images on one sheet of paper.

Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a mechanism which gives an output result desired by the user when printing a document comprising a plurality of paper sizes in mixture. In the information processing unit disclosed in the embodiments, when paper sizes are mixed, a printing job having job attributes including standard paper information for primarily specifying a direction of paper feeding as to the paper sizes placeable in longitudinal and lateral directions in a printing control unit. In the printing control unit, it is determined from which of a plurality of paper feeding means permitting both longitudinal and lateral paper arrangement the paper is to be fed, regarding the standard paper information and the paper sizes placeable longitudinally and laterally.

Abstract: To reduce a calculation load upon banding reproduction, a printer driver transfers draw information sent from a GDI to a draw discriminating unit. The draw discriminating unit confirms that a filtering process which needs various background colors such as ROM process or ? blending process is not included for the drawing images constructing an intermediate language. The printer driver transfers the draw information included in an area of one page to a drawing unit. The drawing unit issues a physical color converting request of color information included in the drawing image to a color converting unit. In response to the physical color converting request of the color information included in the drawing image issued from the drawing unit, the color converting unit transfers information of only a physical color component which is at present being processed from the color information included in the drawing image to the drawing unit.

Abstract: In a distributed computing environment, the following arrangements and procedures provide an imaging device and an imaging metric information server to distribute the imaging device's operational metrics (e.g., print media and toner utilization information) The metrics information are accessible by applications at any time from the server in real-time, independent of forwarding any request for the imaging metrics to the imaging device. Because imaging operational metrics are accessed by an application through the server, the imaging device does not use valuable resources such as bandwidth and processing power to respond to metrics information requests received from the application.

Abstract: A printer system comprises a communication interface and printer components. The communication interface receives a humidity value from a toner cartridge. The printer components control printing operation based on the humidity value. To control printing operation, the printer components may configure a dither matrix based on the humidity value. The toner cartridge comprises a humidity sensor and a communication interface. The humidity sensor detects a humidity level and generates the humidity value to correspond to the humidity level. The communication interface transfers the humidity value from the humidity sensor to the printer system.

Abstract: Incapability of printing as a result of prohibition of authentication due to a difference between functions of authentication processing in printing apparatuses is prevented, by acquiring a function of authentication processing of a concerned printing apparatus. It is determined whether or not inputted identification information can be processed by authentication processing of the printing apparatus, based on the acquired function. If the result of the determination is negative, a data format of the inputted identification information is converted.

A plurality of print jobs are sorted and executed according to print head position specifications for one or more movable print heads such that the total number of print head adjustments is minimized.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus disclosed herein includes a detecting section for detecting that the lifetime of an expendable used to form images is expiring, a counting section for counting a used amount of the expendable when the detecting section detects that the lifetime of the expendable is expiring, and a control section for disregarding the fact that the lifetime of the expendable is expiring, even when the fact is detected again before the used amount of the expendable, which is counted by the counting section, reaches a prescribed value.

Abstract: A document processing system may include a document processing device for performing print jobs and copy jobs, a print server for sending print jobs to the document processing device, and a copy station connected to the document processing device and the print server for allowing a user to enable the document processing device to perform a copy job. Furthermore, the copy station may prevent the print server from sending print jobs to the document processing device while the document processing device is enabled for performing a copy job. Additionally, the copy station may also prevent a user from enabling the document processing device to perform a copy job while the document processing device is performing a print job.
