  • Patent number: 9794081
Abstract: For logical multicasting in overlay networks, at a data processing system, an original unicast packet is received from a first component in a first computing node in an overlay network. To cause multicasting in the overlay network the received original unicast packet was unicast by the first computing node only to the data processing system, and a multicast data structure for the overlay network is maintained only by the data processing system, the multicast data structure containing information of each receiver that is configured to receive unicast packets during logical multicasting in the overlay network. From a set of subscriber receivers in the multicast data structure, a subset of the subscriber receivers is selected. A copy of the original unicast packet is unicast to each subscriber receiver in the subset.

  • Patent number: 9755846
Abstract: A method for leader device selection in a control cluster using a shared virtual local area network (VLAN) is provided in the illustrative embodiments. A broadcast Hello packet is received from a sender virtual device over the VLAN at a first virtual device. When the first virtual device satisfies a partnership criterion specified in the Hello packet, a first ranking of the first virtual device is evaluated to be higher than a ranking of a sender virtual device. A first Live packet is unicast over the VLAN to the sender virtual device and a leadership role in the control cluster is taken by the first virtual device. The sender virtual device is caused to stop a broadcasting operation at the sender virtual device. A second Hello packet is broadcasted from the first virtual device over the VLAN.

  • Patent number: 9712571
Abstract: A method and system are provided for admitting new participants to an ongoing conference session. In one example, a conference server hosting a conference session may receive a request for a UE to join the ongoing conference session. In response to receiving such a request, the conference server may determine whether to admit the UE to the ongoing conference session as a full participant or as a partial participant. When the conference server determines to admit the UE as a full participant, the conference server establishes a conference leg with the UE and permits the UE to communicate with each and every current participant of the ongoing conference session. However, when the conference server determines to admit the UE as a partial participant, the conference server may establish a conference leg with the UE and may permit the UE to communicate with just some of the ongoing conference's current participants.

  • Patent number: 9706538
Abstract: A Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless access system transfers wireless data to User Equipment (UE) over a first frequency band based on an initial frequency band selection priority. The LTE wireless access system processes a user Identifier (ID) associated with the UE to select a new frequency band selection priority for the UE. The LTE wireless access system transfers a connection release message to the UE indicating the new frequency band selection priority for the UE. The LTE wireless access system receives a data message for the UE and identifies a second frequency band for the UE based on the new frequency band selection priority. The LTE wireless access system transfers the data message to the UE over the second frequency band.

  • Patent number: 9667431
Abstract: Systems, methods and transitory computer-readable storage media for constructing a loop free multicast tree. The methods include observing a network topology transition affecting a first path from the particular node to a root node, calculating a second path from the particular node to the root node and sending a message to an upstream node requesting that the upstream node be a root port in the calculated second path. If the upstream node agrees to be the root port in the calculated second path, the method further includes creating a new FTAG tree topology view that includes the upstream node as the root port in the second path.

  • Patent number: 9655043
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for reducing power consumption by early decoding. It is determined whether a predetermined decoding condition is satisfied upon expiration of a time unit in a transmission time interval. Decoding is performed on a signal that has been received through the time unit in the transmission time interval, when the predetermined decoding condition is satisfied. A controller outputs an instruction signal to a RF processor to set to a low-power mode during a remaining time period of the transmission time interval after the time unit in the transmission time interval, when the decoding is successful. Decoding is performed on the signal that has been received through the RF processor upon expiration of a last time unit of the transmission time interval regardless of the predetermined decoding condition, when the time unit is the last time unit in the transmission time interval.

  • Patent number: 9622143
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for using virtual local area networks (VLANs) to facilitate packet forwarding between wireless endpoint devices attached to a wireless local area network (WLAN) access network and one or more mobile gateways providing access to packet data network services. For example, a wireless access gateway includes an upstream interface for a mobility tunnel to a mobile gateway of a mobile service provider network and a downstream interface for a WLAN access network. The wireless access gateway receives a packet from the mobile gateway by the upstream interface. The wireless access gateway determines, based at least on the mobility tunnel, a VLAN of the WLAN access network that is uniquely associated in the wireless access gateway with a combination of the APN associated with the mobility tunnel and the mobile gateway. The wireless access gateway then forwards, to a wireless endpoint device, the packet on the VLAN.
