  • Patent number: 6697303
Abstract: With a dial for a timepiece comprising a decoration member 21 having a plurality of through holes 22 formed vertically on a luminescent member 10, the cross-sectional area of lower-side holes 24 of the decoration member 21 is formed to be larger than that of upper-side holes 23. Therefore, even if a substrate is thick, the diameter of the upper-side holes 23 of the through holes 22 can be formed to be small sufficiently. Moreover, compared to a dial size 20 for a timepiece wherein the decoration member 21 is placed on the luminescent member 10, the diameter of the through holes 22 of the decoration member 21 is small. Thus, it is possible to take in enough light from the luminescent member 10 through the lower-side holes 24 to ensure the sufficient amount of light through the through holes 22. It is possible to obtain sufficient illuminance for the dial.

  • Patent number: 6687192
Abstract: The invention concerns the structure of a timepiece movement, more particularly the structure of the hour wheel (1), the inside of whose pipe (4) includes an annular bulge (6) co-operating with an annular groove (22) arranged on the outer wall of the pipe (21) of the cannon-pinion (7). Thus, the hour wheel is snap-fitted onto the movement, without it being necessary to provide an additional part for this purpose, and its toothed wheel (3) cannot therefore be released from the motion-work pinion (19) during transport of the movement.

  • Patent number: 6687190
Abstract: A method for conducting clinical trials for a medication uses a unique identifier, a clock and an smart memory associated with the medication. Information regarding a method of calculating a next take time is received. It is determined if an identifier field on the smart memory is empty and, if empty, the unique identifier is written onto the smart memory. If not empty, it is determined if the identifier in the identifier field is not the unique identifier and if not then exiting. On the other hand, if the unique identifier is present in the identifier field, then calculating the next take time; storing a next take time; and prompting at the next take time. The time on the clock is stored as a take time. In addition, a subject diary form is displayed and subject information in regard to subject diary form is stored.

  • Patent number: 6657923
Abstract: An alarm clock is shaped as a miniature slot machine. The alarm is set by pulling the handle forward, just as one activates a real slot machine. When the alarm goes off, the wheels spin and stop one at a time on a jackpot combination, accompanied by the sound one would hear from a real slot machine. A light on top of the machine flashes, accompanied by sound that mimics the sounds of a jackpot on a real slot machine. The snooze alarm is set by pushing the handle to the rear.

  • Patent number: 6633511
Abstract: An inside notch (37) serving as an adjusting section is provided for a magnetic balancing adjustment between stators (31 and 32) and a rotor (12). The inside notch acts to reduce cogging torque, thereby allowing the rotor to rotate using a slight torque. Therefore, the rotor can be more readily started without using a complicated structure, can be prevented from easily stopping due to an external disturbance, and can be made more reliable. In reducing the cogging torque, it is not necessary to reduce the number of magnetic flux lines by, for example, making a rotor magnet (12b) smaller, making it possible to maintain the efficiency with which electrical power is produced.
