  • Patent number: 8688292
Abstract: A pendular motion determination unit of a motion stabilizer for a tractor includes a parameter computation unit configured to compute a determination parameter PA indicative of a quantity of change in an actual yaw rate Y, a threshold value setting unit configured to compute a threshold value PAth for the determination parameter PA, and a determination unit configured to determine that a pendular motion caused by swaying motion of a trailer is imparted, if the determination parameter PA is greater than the threshold value PAth. At least one of PAth and PA is changed based upon a correlation of a value related to a lateral acceleration based yaw rate Yg with a value related to the standard yaw rate Ys and a correlation of a value related to the actual yaw rate Y with a value related to the standard yaw rate Ys.

  • Patent number: 8670887
Abstract: A vehicle in which a drive state can be favorably selected in a configuration that separately and independently drives front and rear wheels and a method for controlling the vehicle. In the vehicle and control method thereof, a drive state control device prohibits operation of a first switch between front wheel drive (FWD) and all wheel drive (AWD) and a second switch between rear wheel drive (RWD) and AWD when a lateral acceleration related value of the vehicle exceeds a first threshold value G1. The first threshold value G1 is set with a divergence reference value Gref as a reference. The Gref value is determined considering factors such as lateral acceleration, turning characteristics and the drive state of the vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention is embodied in adaptive rating methods and systems. The adaptive rating method includes receiving a first rating for a first product from a user, receiving a second rating for a second product from the user, identifying a conflict with a processor by comparing the first rating and the second rating, soliciting feedback from the user to remedy the conflict, and adjusting at least one of the first or second ratings with the processor responsive to feedback from the user. The steps of the method may be embodied in computer executable instructions stored on a non-transient machine readable medium that cause a processor to perform the method when executed by the processor. The system includes a processor configured to perform the steps of the method.

  • Patent number: 8313071
Abstract: A micro-adjustable supporting device includes a mounting seat, a movable unit, and an adjusting unit. The movable unit includes a rotating assembly disposed rotatably in the mounting seat and rotatable about an axis, and a bottom seat assembly disposed under the mounting seat and rotatable about the axis. The adjusting unit includes a pair of spaced-apart first and second tilt-adjusting elements, and an angle-adjusting element. Each of the first and second tilt-adjusting elements extends through the rotating assembly to connect with the bottom seat assembly, and is movable relative to the rotating assembly in a direction parallel to the axis to adjust a tilt angle of the bottom seat assembly relative to the axis. The angle-adjusting element is operable to move relative to the mounting seat to thereby rotate the rotating assembly and the bottom seat assembly about the axis.

  • Patent number: 8271299
Abstract: An insurance method comprising a return-of-premium (ROP) benefit is disclosed. The ROP benefit is applied to property and casualty insurance and related insurance forms. The ROP benefit provides a return of all premiums after a set period of insurance, less the amount of any claims made by the insured. The policy may then be rolled over to again provide a ROP benefit to the policyholder. Fractional ROP benefit returns may be made on the policy after a minimum set period less than the full term of the policy. The ROP benefit may be provided by means of a rider to a standard property or casualty policy.

  • Patent number: 8200417
Abstract: A route search apparatus stores a section of a route to a database when drowsiness of a driver is detected by a drowsiness detector in the section of the route. The route search apparatus refers to the database and determines whether route candidates include a drowsiness-detected route section when the apparatus searches for a route extending from a departure place to a destination. When the drowsiness-detected route section is included in the route candidates, an evaluation value of the drowsiness-detected route section is raised before re-searching the route extending from the departure place to the destination.

  • Patent number: 8180561
Abstract: A vehicle-installed obstacle detection apparatus includes a forward-view camera, and processes resultant image data to detect objects as possible obstacles. A size value such as tail lamp spacing, transmitted from a preceding vehicle, and a corresponding size value as measured in a captured image, are used to calculate the distance of the preceding vehicle. This is used together with a height value transmitted from the preceding vehicle and a corresponding height value measured in the captured image, to calculate the relative height difference between the vehicles, which is then used to discriminate between detected objects which are actual obstacles and objects such as road surface markers.

  • Patent number: 8160807
Abstract: In information processing device or the like is provided to output a suitable form of information from a view point of user's non-feeling of trouble. In the information processing system, whether a user issues an output instruction or not is confirmed only with respect to information that is not extracted out of information stored in a first storing unit (211) and information that is not output out of information stored in a second storing unit (212) and the importance of which is not less than the standard value. Thus, it is avoidable for a user to coerce an output instruction or non-output instruction for information that is less important than the standard value even in the case that the information has been distributed or broadcasted from a distributing information server (100) and has been output or non-output information.

Abstract: Methods for determining whether a drug is a specialty drug, methods for creating tools to be used in making the determination, and the tools themselves are disclosed. The overall value of a drug depends on the drug's attribute values with respect to each of a set of drug attributes (concerning, e.g., the drug's route of administration, targeted disease, possible adverse reactions, risk of toxicity, cost, need for patient compliance with the treatment regime, and handling, preparation, and/or storage requirements. If the overall value or its partial overall values meet certain criteria, the drug is deemed to be a specialty drug.

  • Patent number: 8140351
Abstract: Central management of dose order preparation retrieves an unprocessed dose order record, selects a workstation from a set of workstations, forwards the order for conversion into a drug dosage form, and repeats the process for additional unprocessed dose order records. Depending on the operation type of the selected workstation (manual, automatic), protocol information concerning preparation of the dose order is selectively provided to the selected workstation. Interrogatable elements enable tracking of dose orders and dosage forms throughout preparation, storage and distribution cycles. Further methods enable rapid fulfillment by utilizing inventory ahead of drug order processing if suitable dosage forms exist in inventory records.
