Abstract: A system and method of secure communication between computing devices based on physical unclonable functions such as memories having dissolvable conductive paths is provided. The method involves enrolling a client device, the client device having a PUF such as a pristine ReRAM. The PUF is enrolled in a secure environment by reading and storing the resistances of the PUF's addressable memory cells. The cells are categorized into “rugged” and “vulnerable” categories on the basis of their resistance, the vulnerable cells being those more likely to be permanently altered during the generations of PUF responses. The rugged cells are used for the generation of PUF responses for cryptographic key generation, but the vulnerable cells may be inspected to detect unauthorized 3rd party access to the PUF.

An endoscope operator's action on a portion to be observed of an endoscopic image is recognized from endoscopic images, and first emphasis display where region-of-interest information is displayed in the endoscopic image at a first emphasis level and second emphasis display where the region-of-interest information is displayed at a second emphasis level relatively lower than the first emphasis level are switched according to a recognition result.
Abstract: Devices and techniques for performing copy-back operations in a memory device are disclosed herein. A trigger to perform a copy-back operation in relation to a section of data stored on the memory device can be detected. Circuitry of the memory device can then read the section of data at two voltage levels within a read window to obtain a first set of bits and a second set of bits respectively. The first and second sets of bits—which should be the same under normal circumstances—are compared to determine whether a difference between the sets of bits is beyond a threshold. If the difference is beyond a threshold, error correction is invoked prior to completion of the copy-back operation.
Abstract: Methods and architectures for refreshing memory elements in a memory array may initialize a reference array that stores each of the possible values stored in the memory element. The values in the memory array and the reference array will drift in parallel over time. To perform a refresh, the drifted values may be read from the reference array and mapped to the original values that were stored when the reference array was initialized. Next, each value may be read from the memory array and matched with a corresponding value from the reference array. The known original value stored in the reference array can then be used to refresh the corresponding memory element in the memory array.
