  • Patent number: 4353227
Abstract: The knitting machine is provided with a yarn tension indicator for continuously monitoring the tension of an elastomeric yarn being withdrawn from a yarn supply source and fed to the needles of the circular knitting machine and for providing a constant visual indication to the machine operator of the tension in the running yarn. The yarn tension indicator includes a base plate and a pointer lever supported in a substantially horizontal position and for pivotal movement on the base plate. Fixed guides are provided for directing the yarn through a movable yarn guide supported for longitudinal adjustment on the pointer lever to urge the same in an upward direction. Weights are supported for longitudinal adjustment on the pointer lever for urging the pointer lever in a downward direction so that when the tension in the running yarn is proper, the pointer lever maintains a horizontal position which may be easily observed by the knitting machine operator.

  • Patent number: 4352222
Abstract: A hinge with a snap-in mechanism is activated by a spring. The spring is housed in a bush-like member pivotally mounted on a hinge axle of the hinge arm. There are two hinge links that connect the hinge arm with the hinge casing. The bush-like member presses on one hinge link when the hinge is in its closed position but rests mainly or completely on the hinge axle of the hinge link when the hinge is in its open position.

  • Patent number: 4349939
Abstract: An automatic door closer in which a piston operatively connected to the door to be moved in axial direction during turning of the door in either direction from a closed to an open position divides the fluid filled housing of the door closer into two pressure compartments which are connected by two channels in which adjustable throttles are arranged to dampen the movement of the door or to be completely closed to prevent passage of fluid through the channels to hold the door in any open position.

  • Patent number: 4349075
Abstract: A hydraulically operated impact motor, e.g. for a jack hammer, has a hammer piston that has a piston surface 19 in a pressure chamber 21 which is constantly pressurized in order to effect the work strokes of the hammer piston, and a larger piston surface 20 in a second pressure chamber 21 which is intermittently pressurized in order to effect the return strokes of the hammer piston. The second pressure chamber 22 is also connected to the exhaust line via a one-way valve that permits flow towards the second pressure chamber 22.

  • Patent number: 4345446
Abstract: Circular knitting machine for producing artificial furs or pile fabric having combed-in fibres comprises a drive motor and at least a carding device, which has a drive member being in operative connection with the drive motor for supplying rotary movement to the rotatable parts of the carding device. In order to achieve that in the event of excessive load in the rotating parts at least the operation of the carding device is automatically suspended, according to the invention there is provided between the drive motor (6) and the drive member (25) an overload clutch (23) having a device (30, 63) for automatically stopping the drive motor (6) (FIG. 2) when the overload condition is reached.

  • Patent number: 4344375
Abstract: A sewing machine for sewing workpieces, comprises a stationary bottom part with an arm which has one end pivotally mounted on the bottom part and an opposite end overlying the bottom part. The arm is movable from a fixed sewing position to an inoperable position away from the point of stitch formation. A revolving looper is mounted on the end of the opposite arm and it has a thread exit opening and a needle is mounted for upward and downward movement in the bottom part for cooperation with the looper. The workpiece is clamped between the base part and the arm and the needle traverses the workpiece upwardly. The construction includes a looper thread guide member mounted on the opposite arm adjacent the looper and has a thread deflector located between the needle path and the thread exit opening of the looper and extending above the point of stitch formation directly laterally of the needle path crosswise to the axis of the looper.

  • Patent number: 4328756
Abstract: A thread tension control system for a sewing machine comprises the following elements arranged in sequence in a path of thread travel extending between the thread supply and needle of a sewing machine, an infinitely variable thread tension control device; a tortuous path thread tension control device; a check spring; and a take-up arm. The tortuous path thread tension control device comprises a generally cylindrical thread tension control post for receiving at least one wrap of thread, the thread tension control post being disposed approximately orthogonal to the path of thread travel. The tension control post is disposed in the path of thread travel between the infinitely variable thread tension control device and in the check spring to effectively multiply the tension provided by the infinitely variable thread tension control device and insulate the same from changes in pressure along the stitch line.

  • Patent number: 4229981
Abstract: When the hammer drill spindle and chuck are driven forward with the mode selection collar positioned to allow axial movement of the chuck and spindle, the annular ratchet is driven by the spindle through a one way roller clutch so it rides up the sloping surfaces of the fixed annular ratchet and then drops off the tooth corners to deliver a hammer blow of a magnitude determined by the operator pushing on the tool. If the rotation is reversed the clutch prevents rotation of the clutch input and prevents injury to the operator. If the selection collar is moved to lock the lugs in the detent notch of the cam surface the drill can be rotated either direction with the hammer action always locked out.
