Abstract: A material grinding apparatus (10) includes an annular upper enclosure (12) defining an upper chamber (34) into which material to be ground is introduced from above, a conical lower enclosure (14) defining a lower chamber (36) and supported in tandem with the upper enclosure (12), and one or more angled slots (56) defined in the sidewall of the upper enclosure (12) through which compressed air is introduced relatively circumferentially into the upper chamber (34) so as to generate a circular vortex flow of air and material in the upper enclosure (12) for grinding and drying to take place. The air flow is exhausted by a pipe (92) through an upper end of the upper enclosure (12) and the dried ground material is discharged through an open lower end of the lower enclosure (14). The lower enclosure (14) is a downward continuation and extension of the upper enclosure (12) so as not to extend upwardly into nor past the upper chamber (34) thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a knife assembly for a veneer lathe, the knife assembly comprising heads having mounted therebetween a knife beam and a nose bar beam, the beams respectively supporting a peeling knife and a solid nose bar. The knife assembly is turnable about an axis of rotation aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the peeling knife and the nose bar, whereby the angular position of the knife assembly relative to the lathe carriage heads is adapted to change about this axis of rotation in compliance with the progress of veneer peeling. In the knife assembly, the angular position of the nose bar relative to the peeling knife is adapted changeable during peeling in order to control the angle between the nose bar and the peeling knife.

The log splitter system includes a support beam, a loader connecting structure for attaching to a tractor loader, a main engaging member slidably attached to the support beam, a splitting wedge attached to an end of the support beam, and an actuator unit attached to the main engaging member. The actuator unit forces the main engaging member toward the splitting wedge with a log positioned between thereof thereby splitting the log.
Abstract: A blinds slat has a major portion being strips of bamboo and a minor portion being one or more pairs of wooden strips that are located at or near opposite side extremities of the slat. The resulting composite bamboo and wooden slat as exemplary resistance to warping and other deleterious effects of exposure to sun and moisture. Also disclosed is a method for producing the slats that is particularly advantageous in avoiding environmental harm, in that only small amounts of wood are used.
Abstract: A holding device for holding a tool includes a holding block having a central opening formed from a stack of laminated members secured together. The block includes holes extending away from the central opening. A pair of support plates are secured to the block and are secured at right angles to one another. Key hole slots are in one of the support members and have a first bore containing a slug and a second bore at right angles thereto. A threaded member extends through the other of the support members, through the second bore, and is threaded into the slug within the first bore.
Abstract: The invention pertains to a cutting device, particularly for the cutting of predetermined breaking points in plastic membranes, foils or the like, with an air-permeable supporting surface for the plastic membrane or the like and with an aspirating device, with which the plastic membrane or the like is applied onto the supporting surface. The supporting surface is formed by a sintered metal plate.
Abstract: A delimber (10) for removing secondary limbs from a primary limb of a tree Comprises an arm (12) arranged to extend around the primary limb. The arm is provided with cutter segments (18) oriented to cut the secondary limbs from the primary limb of the tree. The delimber also comprises a means (50, 52, 54) for moving the arm at least partly along the length of the primary limb. In use, the arm is extended around the primary limb of the tree and is then moved along the length of the primary limb, thereby cutting secondary limbs from the primary limb.
Abstract: A household workbench assembly (1) that utilizes dry dimensional lumber, plywood, metal, and plastic to provide a versatile, rugged workbench, requiring minimal assembly time and having a pleasing cosmetic outer appearance. The versatility and simplicity of the workbench design comes from the unique primary metal leg design (2) that allows rapid attachment of all components (3-8). The leg (2) is constructed as a load bearing metal structural frame with a front to back length equal to the product of the average width of a specific type of dry dimensional lumber (7) times an integer number of pieces. Holes (12) located along the top surface of the metal leg and spaced appropriately provide for attachment of dry dimensional lumber and prevent the lumber from warping or splitting. Brace attachment holes (13) pre-drilled symmetrically about the vertical axis of the leg (2) and along the sides of each vertical member provide for attachment of all lateral and drawer support braces (3,4,5).
