  • Patent number: 5992844
Abstract: The bristles for brushes used in the deceleration section of a sheet handling system are made of a pultruded construction utilizing a high strength fiber core and high wear resin binder to provide bristles which will not acquire a set from bending and exhibit extremely long wear life. Pultruded fibers of various cross sectional shapes and constructions may be utilized to tune the brushes to a particular sheet handling application.

  • Patent number: 5732942
Abstract: A delivery device conveys the sheets which are output by a laser printer for delivery onto a pile. For adaptation to the growing height of the pile, at least one conveying roll defining an output is arranged on a height-adjustable carriage. A sensor lever scans the respective height of the pile and brings about automatic tracking of the carriage. The carriage is mounted so as to be longitudinally displaceable on a drive shaft by means of at least one guide. The carriage can be moved vertically along the drive shaft by driving wheels which press against the drive shaft. By means of this device, the achievable stacking height can be multiplied relative to the standard height.

  • Patent number: 5669605
Abstract: There is provided a paper feed roller capable of being used for delivering and feeding paper, which is high in coefficient of friction, has sufficient hardwearing properties with the coefficient of friction not affected by the change in environment of temperature and humidity, is low in ink transferability and is small in change in passage of year of the coefficient of friction of the surface.A coating layer 5 formed of an elastic material such as rubber is formed on an surface of a core material 4 molded of a foamed material such as sponge, and a bonding agent 6 having an elasticity such as denatured silicon is coated on the surface of the coating layer 5 so that ceramic particles 7 are fixed without clearance to provide a paper feed roller 1. Alternatively, the bonding agent 6 is directly coated on the surface of the core material 4 molded of a pliable material such as soft rubber and sponge so that the ceramic particles 7 are fixed without clearance to provide the paper feed roller 9.

  • Patent number: 4995780
Abstract: A method for loading compacted solid waste refuse in the form of bales indexed two at a time for loading into a plastic-lined dump trailer. The dump trailer being covered and including a rear closure door for transporting the bales in a closed environment to a balefill. The method further includes tilting the dump trailer at a low slip angle to dump the bales a pair at a time smoothly sliding from the plastic-lined trailer to be picked by mechanical device for stacking in the balefill.

  • Patent number: 4955596
Abstract: An envelope processing system (20) includes an input transport section (22); a processing/transport section (24); and a discharge transport section (28). Envelopes are fed on-edge from the input transport section to the processing/transport section (24) by a feeder section (40) comprising a feeder (72) and a feed assist device (80). When a signal controller (190) monitoring the feeder (72) detects a significant delay between the feeding of envelopes, the feeder (72) is enabled to acquire greater contact with the next envelope by displacing the feed assist device (80) out of its normally biased co-planar position with a feed belt (130) of the feeder (72), resulting in a greater force vector on the next envelope in the direction toward a singulation region (73). A stacker section (38) comprising the discharge conveyance section (28) includes introductory conveying means (302), stacker conveying means (304), and a discharge magazine (300).

  • Patent number: 4135766
Abstract: High performance rear axle assembly comprising a separable wheel-mounting flange and axle. The flange is fabricated of alloy steel highly resistant to bending stress, and the axle of a different alloy steel more highly resistant to torsional stress. The flange is splined onto the shaft and blocked against bending displacement by a cone interfitting the flange hub.
