  • Patent number: 11199063
Abstract: A hermetically sealed horizontal washing decanter centrifuge for enhanced drilling fluid recovery and drilled solids washing. A process and apparatus for liquid phase-solid phase separation of oil based drilling mud-containing drill cuttings is described including flowing the drilling mud-containing drill cuttings into a horizontal washing decanter wherein the stresses imposed within the decanter act as a wash as the diluent and oil based drilling mud move away from the drill cuttings. Diluent is added prior to flowing the drilling mud containing drill cutting to the hermetically sealed horizontal washing decanter centrifuge. The entire process is performed in a gas-tight environment preventing escape of diluent from the process into the external atmosphere and preventing introduction of gases into the process from the external atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 11192120
Abstract: Provided is a centrifugal field-flow fractionation device that can stably press a fixing member toward an inner peripheral surface of a rotor by a wedge-shaped member, even when a relatively large centrifugal force acts on the wedge-shaped member. An arc-shaped (C-shaped) fixing member 17 is provided along an inner peripheral surface of a channel member 16 on a side of a rotation axis of the channel member 16. A wedge-shaped member 18 is attached between opposite ends of the fixing member 17 and applies a force in a direction of spreading the opposite ends apart, to thereby press the fixing member 17 toward the inner peripheral surface of the rotor 14. The wedge-shaped member 18 has a pair of contact surfaces 184 that respectively come into contact with the opposite ends of the fixing member 17.

  • Patent number: 11180387
Abstract: An apparatus and method isolating ion generation from target metal precipitation and flocculation rely on an ion generator and a precipitation reactor distinct, separated, optimized, and otherwise independent, so no co-habitation of ion generation and precipitation, nor their flow regimes, is permitted. Plug flow is hyper turbulent in the ion generator. Flow is quiescent to laminar the precipitator. Coating sacrificial anodes is avoided by not over driving currents for ionization at the anode. Control of electrical resistance across flows of very high TDS (over 200 kppm, often over 225 kppm) is accomplished by selectively masking a portion of the anode, cathode, or both of such electrodes. Masks may be dielectric films or layers, such as plastic sheets or tubes, or curtains of bubbles injected into the flow near an electrode.

  • Patent number: 11168007
Abstract: The invention comprises an apparatus, method and system used to treat various liquids, seeds, and soil or other growth media used in cultivating plants by exposure to a plasma discharge. The system comprises a novel electrode structure which utilizes a tapered inner electrode and a porous outer electrode to create a three-dimensional plasma discharge, which is applied to liquid, seeds or growth media through removably attachable sub-assemblies. When used to treat water or seeds, highly-concentrated plasma activated water (PAW) and disease and drought resistant plasma activated seeds (PAS), respectively, are produced, which improve germination rate and efficiency, and eliminate the need for ammonia-based chemical fertilizers.

  • Patent number: 11161094
Abstract: Catalytic pyrolysis can upcycle waste, e.g., car bumpers, to carbon nanomaterials, preferably using synthetic TiO2 nanoparticles as catalyst during pyrolysis. Analysis of the carbon nanomaterials shows that, while RGO is produced from thermal pyrolysis of car bumper waste absent TiO2, RGO spotted with carbon dots is produced in presence of TiO2 catalyst. Rutile to anatase TiO2 phase transformation and carbon nanomaterial formation can simultaneously occur during the pyrolysis. Anatase to rutile transformation may occur while TiO2 absent the bumper material. Such TiO2-CD-RGO can be used, for example in photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds, such as methylene blue.

  • Patent number: 11135599
Abstract: A centrifugal separator recovers high specific gravity solids such as whole cells while at the same time enabling sedimentation of low specific gravity solids such as cell debris. The separator is provided with a dual zone separator liner with concentric separator shells or zones. Feed fluid is introduced into an inner shell. High specific gravity solids accumulate against the inner wall of the inner shell. Feed fluid flows into the coaxial outer shell where lower specific gravity solids accumulate on the inner wall of the outer shell under higher g-force relative to that within the inner shell for the same rotational speed. Feed fluid flows out an exit channel. Longitudinal, planar vanes are radially disposed between an outer shell inner wall and an inner shell outer wall. After centrifugation, feed fluid in the inner shell is drained, then accumulated solids are drained from the inner shell into an appropriate receptacle.
