The display stack (10) includes a first electro-optic layer (24) configured to modulate light of a first waveband and a second electro-optic layer (26) configured to modulate light of a second waveband that is different from the first waveband. A mirror (30) is positioned between the first and second electro-optic layers (24, 26) such that the first electro-optic layer (24) is positioned adjacent to a first surface (S1M) of the mirror (30) and has a surface (S1) that is configured to face an external light source (22), and the second electro-optic layer (26) is positioned adjacent to a second surface (S2M) of the mirror (30) and has a surface (S2) that is configured to face the backlight (14). The mirror (30) is also configured to partially reflect and partially transmit wavelengths in the first waveband and to at least partially transmit wavelengths in the second waveband.

The first alignment film includes a first region and a second region. The second alignment film includes a third region facing the first region and a fourth region facing the second region. In an adjacent pair of the pixel regions, pairs of the regions are adjacent to each other with corresponding one of the source lines interposed therebetween.

Therefore, the manufacturing method can prevent the present golden balls from piercing the common electrodes and further prevent the short circuit of the circuit on the substrate, which improves the yield rate of the liquid crystal panel. Additionally, since the alloy particles are small sized, after the separate alloy particles melt, contacting points between the alloy particles and the common electrodes are increased.

The backlight unit is fixed through a first frame disposed at a side edge thereof, and the LCD panel is fixed through a second frame disposed at side edges thereof. The first frame is provided with a snap-fitting groove mechanism, and the second frame is provided with a snap-fitting mechanism for mating with the snap-fitting groove mechanism to fix the LCD panel. Because the second frame is joined with the first frame through snap-fitting in the LCD device and the fixing structure thereof of the present disclosure, it is unnecessary to use screws for fixing purpose. This makes the assembling process simple, efficient and time-saving, so the production efficiency of the LCD device is increased and the production cost is reduced.

The cholesteric liquid crystal layer (3) exhibits optical isotropy in the direction parallel to the plane of each substrate when no voltage is applied.
