  • Patent number: 7173515
Abstract: A RFID tag structure determining the authenticity of an article, and an information processing system for reading RFID tags, enable authenticity determinations of articles using read only RFID tags. A plurality of RFID tags, each holding tag information inside ROM (read-only memory) and responding to tag information via a radio wave received from a reader, are designed to have a service identifier which designates a common utilization goal for which the same value is set, and service data which sets different values for the respective RFID tags, as tag information. By dividing the data structure of a RFID tag having a read-only memory into a service identifier, which is common to a certain product, and sequential data for managing individual products, it is possible to confirm that an article is authentic by simply confirming the service identifier.

  • Patent number: 6714238
Abstract: A system utilizes the camera control server of the CPU to transfer the camera control command, received through the network, to the camera control device to control the camera in order to vary the audio input/output characteristics in linkage with the camera operation and to thereby improve the realistic feeling. In more details, the camera control server also sends control commands to the audio input control device, the audio output device and the video display control device according to the camera control thereby controlling the input characteristics (spreading, direction and sensitivity) of the microphone and the output characteristics (spreading, direction and depth) of the speaker and varying the image displayed on the monitor. The system also includes technology for displaying, on the monitor, the information on the operator of the camera and on the receiver of the image, and for varying the direction of the monitor according to the panning or tilting operation of the camera.

  • Patent number: 6411771
Abstract: An MPEG1 real time encoder board generates index data as an evaluation value representing the complexity of a picture. A scene change parameter representing the degree of a scene change occurring in the picture is then calculated from the index data. The scene change parameter is associated with a scene change pointer, that is, position information on a location of the picture in which a scene change occurs to a degree indicated by the scene change parameter. The scene change parameter and the scene change pointer are recorded as an index in an index file. On the other hand, an MPEG system stream output by the MPEG1 real time encoder board is stored in an MPEG file separated from the index file.

  • Patent number: 6380973
Abstract: An image in a field inputted by interlace scanning is delayed for a time period corresponding to one field, then, by comparing the delayed image signals and the not-delayed image signals of the image, a movement detecting unit determines whether the input image is a moving image or a still image and outputs a signal indicating the determined result. A selecting unit which includes an image combining unit combines the delayed image signals and the not-delayed image signals, and selects either the combined image signals or not-combined image signals on the basis of the detected result by the movement detecting unit. Accordingly, the image signals realizing a high quality image displayed on a multimedia device are obtained.

  • Patent number: 6363207
Abstract: A digital video processor and operating method for a receiving raw audio and video data representing images and sound to be played. The processor includes a demultiplexer for receiving the raw audio and video data and providing demultiplexed audio and video data to a memory. A first system time clock provides first time values in response to being continuously clocked by the demultiplexer. A CPU decodes and plays back the audio and video data as a function of the audio and video PTS values. The processor further includes a second system time clock providing second time values in response to being periodically incremented by the CPU. The CPU periodically sets the second system time clock to a second time value equal to a current first time value of the first system time clock in response to a standard play mode, and the CPU periodically sets the first system time clock to a first time value equal to a current second time value of the second system time clock in response to a trick play mode.

  • Patent number: 6360055
Abstract: Data on multiple stories or scenes are recorded on a recording medium so as to reduce the physical distance moved by a pickup at playback time and to suppress breaks or disturbances in reproduced video. A multi-scene program having a plurality of optionally selectable branch stories B0, B1, B2, B3, etc., is recorded between a branch point X and a connection point Y. The preceding main story of a video program, made up of video, sound, text and the like, branches off at branch point X to the branch stories, and at connection point Y connects to the succeeding main story in the video program. The recorded state between the branch point X and the connection point Y is such that the branch stories are each divided into multiple cells and the cells of the respective branch stories are recorded time-division multiplexed.

  • Patent number: 6323903
Abstract: A mount for directional devices such as cameras, optical devices or laser devices, providing independent orthogonal adjustment of panning alignment of such devices in a horizontal plane in combination with independent adjustment of rotation alignment of such devices about a vertical axis parallel to the optical axis. In a preferred embodiment, a CCD camera is aligned over a Liquid Crystal Display under test. Threaded adjustment screws angularly separate opposing plates disposed along each of x-, y- and z-axes. This angular separation generates a moment about the axis of rotation, causing a corresponding shift in the camera's alignment. Structure is also provided to compensate for differential thermal behavior of opposing plates. The inventive mount is advantageously designed to be reversible so that left-handed and right-handed embodiments can be nested to facilitate a multi-camera deployment.

  • Patent number: 6292215
Abstract: An image system which captures, along with the images, information defining both the position and the orientation of the camera along with the distance to the subject. A video camera is attached to three accelerometers, two gyroscopes, and a rangefinder. Data gathered from these devices and defining the pitch, yaw, and roll of the camera, the camera's acceleration, and the distance to the subject is captured and recorded along with video images. The video images are later stored within a computer's data base along with data defining the position and orientation of the camera and the distance to the subject for each image, this latter data being computed from the captured data. The images may then be presented to the user in a three-dimensional display in which the user can navigate through the images using a joystick device, with the images located in positions corresponding to the positions in space of the objects that were imaged.

  • Patent number: 6288744
Abstract: The invention is intended to provide a highly integrated solid-state image pickup device, in which the number of transfer electrodes of a horizontal shift register is reduced, and a plurality of vertical shifter registers are arranged with a reduced pitch therebetween. Output-control gate electrodes are disposed at an output end of the vertical shift registers. These output-control gate electrodes are operated independently from vertical transfer gate electrodes, and temporarily reserve information charges. Horizontal transfer gate electrodes corresponding to the vertical shift registers on odd-numbered columns are turned on, so signals charges in these vertical shift registers are read into a horizontal shift register. During horizontal transfer of these information charges, information charges of vertical shift registers on even-numbered columns are reserved, for half of a horizontal scanning period, in output ends of the vertical shift registers by the output-control gate electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6259478
Abstract: An electronic shutter camera with full frame resolution employs a progressively scanned interline transfer charge coupled device for generating full frame images of objects moving past an observation point either asynchronously in response to an external trigger signal or synchronously with internal timing. The image charges accumulated on the pixel regions of the CCD are discharged once per frame time, and the pixel regions are also initially discharged prior to the beginning of an image charge integration period to remove noise. A special double pulse mode enables the shutter speed to be specified by externally generated double trigger pulses, with the spacing between pulses specifying the desired shutter time. Manual selection of a wide range of shutter speeds is also provided. Each image frame is stored in a digital memory and is output as either interlaced or non-interlaced analog or digital video.

  • Patent number: 6249640
Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to improve the rapid SPU playback scheme in a DVD player. In order to achieve this end, the method in accordance with the invention comprises the steps of: comparing the system time clock (STC) with the execution time of an instruction set that provides display control in the sub-picture units (SP_DCSQ_STM_N), forcing the display of pixel data (PXD) contained in a sub-picture unit to suspend operation and to proceed to instruction interpretation of the instruction set in a next sub-picture unit if said comparison means determines, when the sub-picture units are being rapidly played back, that the system time clock performing a rapid increment operation has a greater value than the execution time of the instruction set at least one ahead (SP_DCSQ_STM_N+1) and continuously repeating the instruction interpretation until the execution time of the instruction set coincides with the system time clock.
