Abstract: Video drive-by data provides a street level view of a neighborhood surrounding a selected geographic location. A video and data server farm incorporates a video storage server that stores video image files containing video drive-by data corresponding to a geographic location, a database server that processes a data query received from a user over the Internet corresponding to a geographic location of interest, and an image processing server. In operation, the database server identifies video image files stored in the video storage server that correspond to the geographic location of interest contained in the data query and transfers the video image files over a pre-processing network to the image processing server. The image processing server converts the video drive-by data to post-processed video data corresponding to a desired image format and transfers the post-processed video data via a post-processing network to the Internet in response to the query.

Abstract: A method includes inspecting a wafer to find a first potential defect having a first wafer coordinate, and capturing a patch image of the first potential defect from the wafer. The patch image is compared with patterns of a wafer representation to find a first layout coordinate of a location in the wafer representation, wherein the location in the wafer representation corresponds to a location of the first potential defect in the wafer. A reference feature in the wafer representation is selected, wherein the reference feature in the wafer representation has a second layout coordinate. A coordinate difference between the first layout coordinate and the second layout coordinate is calculated. The coordinate difference is subtracted from the first wafer coordinate to calculate a second wafer coordinate of a reference feature in the wafer, wherein the reference feature in the wafer representation corresponds to the reference feature in the wafer.

Abstract: An image processing technique includes acquiring a main image of a scene and determining one or more facial regions in the main image. The facial regions are analyzed to determine if any of the facial regions includes a defect. A sequence of relatively low resolution images nominally of the same scene is also acquired. One or more sets of low resolution facial regions in the sequence of low resolution images are determined and analyzed for defects. Defect free facial regions of a set are combined to provide a high quality defect free facial region. At least a portion of any defective facial regions of the main image are corrected with image information from a corresponding high quality defect free facial region.

Abstract: A method of categorizing defects in a media item. The method comprising the steps of: receiving a binarised image of the media item, where the binarised image comprises a plurality of pixels, each pixel having either a potential defect intensity or a non-defect intensity; and identifying one or more blobs comprising contiguous pixels each having a potential defect intensity. For each identified blob, the method involves comparing a size of the blob with a damage threshold; ignoring the blob if the blob size is smaller than the damage threshold; and for each identified blob having a size exceeding or equaling the damage threshold, categorizing the identified blob.
Abstract: A method and an image-reconstruction apparatus are disclosed for reconstructing image data on the basis of measurement data from an imaging system. In at least one embodiment of the process, initial image data, initially reconstructed from the measurement data, is optimized in an iterative optimization method utilizing a substantially edge-maintaining noise regularization term and an additional sparsity regularization term.
Abstract: A method for transmitting image data sets via a communication network is provided. Image data are processed for dividing the image into a plurality of the image sub regions and for determining for each of the plurality of the image sub regions a hash code in dependence upon pixel data of pixels located in the respective image sub region. The hash codes are transmitted together with location data of the respective image sub regions if the hash code exists in an associative dataset and the pixel data are transmitted together with location data of the respective image sub regions if the hash code does not exist in the associative dataset. Upon receipt of at least one of the hash codes and the pixel data together with the location data, image data are generated.

A low voltage pulsed electrical charge is applied to a transparent electrode plate, which is dimensioned to receive a portion of an individual's dermal surface having molecules associated therewith. The pulsed electrical charge stimulates and excites the molecules and causes molecular compounds to fluoresce. An image of the fluoresced dermal surface is obtained and a biometric function is performed with data derived from the image.

Abstract: A system for contextualizing noisy samples by substantially minimizing noise induced variance may include a memory, an interface, and a processor. The memory is operative to store exemplars. The processor is operative to receive, via the interface, a sample which includes exemplar content corresponding to one of the exemplars, and noise. Variance induced by the noise may differentiate the sample from one or more of the exemplars. The processor may generalize the sample and the exemplars in order to substantially minimize the variance. The processor may compare the generalized sample to the generalized exemplars to identify the exemplar corresponding to the exemplar content of the sample. The processor may contextualize the sample based on a document type of the identified exemplar. The processor may present the contextualized sample to a user to facilitate interpretation thereof, and in response thereto, receive data representative of a user determination associated with the noise.
Abstract: An image including a face is input (S201), a plurality of local features are detected from the input image, a region of a face in the image is specified using the plurality of detected local features (S202), and an expression of the face is determined on the basis of differences between the detection results of the local features in the region of the face and detection results which are calculated in advance as references for respective local features in the region of the face (S204).
Abstract: Super-resolution processing is regarded as a kind of intersample interpolation process and performed by using a linear interpolation filter designed according to sampled-data control theory. In an error-system model used in the process of designing the filter, a pre-filter is disposed before a sampler and a post-filter is disposed after the zero-order hold in a signal restoration system. At least either one of the characteristic Q(s) of the pre-filter or the characteristic P(s) of the post-filter is designed to be a low-pass characteristic, whereby the gain of the characteristic K(z) of a digital filter within a middle-to-high frequency range is raised. Raising the gain makes jaggies more prominent. To reduce this effect, in an actual processing system, the image to be processed is passed through a low-pass filter to reduce high-frequency components before the linear interpolation is performed.
