  • Patent number: 6445282
Abstract: A process for preventing motor vehicle theft in which, while the anti-theft device is activated, a drive control device is switched off, the anti-theft device automatically transmits during each deactivating operation a transmittal code to the drive control device and the drive control device will be switched back on only when the transmitted transmittal code corresponds to a comparison code made available in the drive control device.

  • Patent number: 6429770
Abstract: A communication system (100) includes a radio transmitter (116) and a SCR (selective call receiver) (122). The radio transmitter includes a transmitting device (404), and a controller (408) adapted to receive a message from a source, select at least one address identifying the SCR and identifying a language origin of the message, and cause the transmitting device to transmit the at least one address and the message to the SCR. The SCR includes a receiving device (504), a presentation device (518), and a processor (508) adapted to cause the receiving device to receive the at least one address and the message transmitted by the radio transmitter, determine the language origin of the message based on the at least one address, process the message into presentable data corresponding to the language origin, and cause the presentation device to present the message according to the presentable data.

  • Patent number: 6426692
Abstract: In a method of transferring data from a transponder to a reading device in a scanning identification system through load-modulation of an inquiry signal emitted by the reading device, with the transponder being initialized at the beginning of the reception of the inquiry signal and responding with the emission of the response signal, first a predetermined number of data bits that are not part of the response signal are transmitted, and a terminator sequence followed by the response signal are repeatedly transmitted, until the inquiry signal is interrupted. The time required by the reading device for building up the inquiry field is bridged by the predetermined number of data bits and, at the same time, the reading device is synchronized to the clock of the response signal. Through the terminator sequence, which indicates the beginning of a valid response signal, the response signal is already recognized correctly by the reading device during the first transfer.

  • Patent number: 6384711
Abstract: An electronic security system includes an electronic lock mechanism and an electronic key, each of which is provided with a microprocessor controller and a memory storing data including an ID code and encryption key codes. The electronic lock security system preferably includes an electronic lock including a hollow cylinder, an opening into the cylinder, a bolt movable through the opening between an extended position and a retracted position, a cam member within the cylinder, the cam member contacting the bolt to move the bolt to an unlocked position, a solenoid within the hollow cylinder, the solenoid being engageable with the cam member, an electronic lock circuit within the hollow cylinder, a plug connected to the solenoid for rotating the solenoid, the plug having a keyway for insertion of a key for rotating the plug. In addition, the system also includes an electronic key insertable within the keyway for communicating with the electronic lock circuit to operate the lock.

  • Patent number: 6384737
Abstract: A system is provided to allow a computer to control one or more devices using the remote control codes that are normally used by remote control units associated with these devices. The system has one or more remote control units for transmitting commands, one or more devices to be controlled, and a computer. The computer is coupled to an input device, and has a memory, a receiver which receives codes from the remote control units, and a knowledge base for storing the codes received from the remote control units and command identifiers provided from the input device. The knowledge base associates each command identifier with a particular code. The computer also includes a transmitter which transmits codes to the device to be controlled based on selected command identifiers. During configuration, the computer executes a program that prompts the user to enter a command identifier and code to be associated with that command identifier.

  • Patent number: 6331822
Abstract: A communication control apparatus for enabling an A/D converter to be shared among a plurality of input units to eliminate the work for newly installing an A/D converter for a new sensor when the sensor is added. A communication control apparatus is provided which includes input/output lines for connecting an input/output unit and a central control unit to each other and used for transmitting data, the central control unit is provided with an analog to digital converter and is used for carrying out processing of load control based on input data coming from the input/output lines, and the input/output unit. An input side of the input/output unit is connected to sensors and an external switch whereas an output side of the input/output unit is connected to a load such as a motor.

  • Patent number: 6236333
Abstract: A passive remote keyless entry system includes a plurality of sensors each associated with a door of the vehicle. Each sensor detects the presence and distance of a key fob from the sensor. By monitoring the distance of the key fob from the sensor, the sensor determines if the key fob is approaching or moving away from the associated door. If the sensor determines that the key fob is approaching, an interrogation signal is sent from the security system to the key fob. If the proper code is returned by the key fob, the associated door is unlocked. If the sensor determines that the key fob is moving away from the associated door, the doors are locked. The sensors can also determine whether the key fob is simply passing by, in which case the driver probably does not wish to enter the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6208235
Abstract: A resonant circuit tag includes an integrated circuit for storing data and an antenna circuit for generating a first local field and resonating at a first predetermined radio frequency. A second circuit including an inductive coil selectively generates a second local field such that a sum of the first and second local fields approaches zero. The second circuit thus allows the resonant tag to be selectively decoupled from its environment.

  • Patent number: 6150952
Abstract: A key and lock system has a key with an integrated transponder coil that is connected to a transponder unit, and a lock with an integrated write/read coil. The key has a key bit portion and a bow portion. When the key bit portion is inserted into an elongated aperture of a key cylinder of the lock, an axis of the write/read coil forms an acute angle with an axis of the transponder coil. The acute angle substantially differs from a zero degree angle.
