  • Patent number: 10244927
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for space-optimized visualization catheters are provided. Some embodiments utilize complimentary metal-oxide-semi-conductor (“CMOS”) technology integrated into a CMOS camera train holder system that may be a stand-alone component for use with a visualization catheter, such as a baby endoscope, or may be fabricated/extruded as a part of the catheter itself. Some embodiments of apparatuses, methods, and equivalents thereto provide better direct visual feedback to the medical personnel performing the procedure while providing a similarly-sized outer diameter visualization catheter device having an increased space therein for additional lumens and equipment or by reducing the overall outer diameter of the visualization catheter.

  • Patent number: 10226169
Abstract: An endoscope with a flexible endoscope shaft has an endoscope head arranged at its distal end. The endoscope head is a sleeve, open at both end faces. Functional units, such as an optical system, a working channel, an illumination and a cooling system for the illumination are accommodated in the endoscope head. The cooling system has a heat exchanger integrally formed with the sleeve in the latter which forms a closed cooling chamber for generating a coolant flow. The illumination, which is in the form of an external conductor plate supporting an illumination means, is arranged adjacent to the distal end wall of the heat exchanger, to discharge thermal energy via the end wall of the heat exchanger to the coolant flow. The external conductor plate is mechanically supported on, or has only a minimum distance from, the heat exchanger end wall.

  • Patent number: 10206557
Abstract: A power source apparatus and a system incorporating said power source for medical capsules are disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention allow the medical capsule to enable/disable electrical power supplied to a sub-system in the capsule device without special tools and/or skills after the medical capsule is manufactured. In one embodiment, the power source apparatus comprises a plunger responsive to a magnetic field, a spring to interact with the plunger, a battery and a control piece. The plunger is moved between first and second positions according to a magnetic field applied externally. Accordingly, the control piece enables or disables the power depending on the plunger positions. In another embodiment, a capsule system uses an electrical interconnect with pressure contacts between the power source and the capsule sub-system connecting the second circuit board to the power-output nodes.

  • Patent number: 10143365
Abstract: Provided are a light source unit for an endoscope and an endoscopy system, which clarify the color difference between a first dye and a second dye in an observation image. The light source unit has a white LED light source and a band limiting section. The white LED light source has an excitation light source that emits blue excitation light and a phosphor layer that emits yellow fluorescence upon receipt of the excitation light. As a mixture of the fluorescence and part of the excitation light, the white LED light source outputs light having an intensity spectrum continuous across blue, green and red regions. The band limiting section reduces part of the output light in a wavelength band of not lower than a threshold. The threshold is not less than 650 nm. At the threshold, the first dye (pyoktanin) has an optical reflectance of not less than a constant value, whereas the second dye (indigocarmine) has an optical reflectance of substantially zero.
