  • Hair treatments utilizing polymethylalkylsiloxanes

    Abstract: These improved compositions include a polymethylalkylsiloxane hair conditioning These improved compositions include a polymethyMcarrier medium such as a hair shampoo, hair conditioner or aerosol spray composition. The polymethylalkylsiloxane is from 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the total composition and is of the general formula: R.sub.2 (CH.sub.3)Si(OSi(CH.sub.3).sub.2).sub.x (OSiR'CH.sub.3).sub.y OSi(CH.sub.3)R.sub.2, wherein each R is selected from the group consisting or methyl, ethyl and phenyl groups, R' is an alkyl group of from 8 to about 60 carbon atoms where the total number or R' groups present has an average of at least 12 carbon atoms, the values of x and y are such that the ratio of x:y is in the range of from 97:3 to 55:45, the sum of x+y is greater than or equal to about 60 and less than or equal to about 1,333 and the polymethylalkylsiloxane has a melting transition, as measured by a differential scanning calorimeter, between about -25.degree. C. to +27.degree. C.

  • Deodorants, deodorant sheets, filter sheets and functional papers as well as filtering mediums for exhaust gas

    Abstract: Deodorant comprising 5 to 100% by weight of a calcium phosphate compound having a molar ratio of Ca/P of 0.8 to 2.0, a deodorant sheet and filter sheet containing such calcium phosphate compound, and a functional paper containing 10 to 80% by weight of a calcium phosphate compound. A filtering medium for an exhaust gas comprises a ceramic material containing 5 to 100% by weight of a calcium phosphate compound, as well as a filter cartridge and exhaust gas filter containing the filtering medium. Based on the excellent properties of the incorporated calcium phosphate compound, the agents and products according to the present invention exhibit a highly improved adsorptivity to oil-soluble substances, odor substances, animal or vegetable cells, viruses, biopolymeric substances or other substances, and therefore can be advantageously used in various fields of technology. For example, the functional paper can be used as a deodorant, filter medium and adsorbent as well as a flame-retardant paper.
