  • Patent number: 4459821
Abstract: A bulkhead for a cargo carrying vehicle and method of constructing same is the subject of the present invention. First and second uniform extruded sections are provided, each of which presents alternating web portions and open areas sandwiched between generally planar surfaces. Plate connecting means is interposed between the two extruded sections and presents first and second connecting surfaces which are aligned with the first and second planar surfaces. First and second channel means disposed across the ends of the extruded sections place each of the open areas in closed communication with an adjacent area. The open areas may be utilized to house a refrigerant conduit and a freezable media so as to convert the bulkhead into a self-contained cold plate. Alternatively, a heating element may be placed in the open areas so as to convert the bulkhead to a hot plate. The aforedescribed assembly is disposed on one side of an A-frame which divides the cargo area into left and right sections.

  • Patent number: 4429709
Abstract: A method and devices for applying the generally known principle of cascade flow in control of self-adjusting fluid handling systems, which devices are capable of maintaining predetermined flow rate/pressure difference ratios, over a wide range of variations. The capability of maintaining predetermined flow rate/pressure difference ratios is based on a capability of maintaining predetermined displacement/pressure difference ratios of axially displaceable means of control in application of the principle of cascade flow. One embodiment is a draught control device, which is capable of maintaining substantially constant draught, e.g., in central heating boilers of solid fuel, over a wide range of variations in flue pressure.Another embodiment is a constant flow valve, capable of maintaining constant rate of volume flows in house ventilation.A third embodiment of the present invention is a constant pressure valve, capable of maintaining constant pressure of fluid upstream the valve.

  • Patent number: 4389852
Abstract: A refrigerated display case for displaying refrigerated products. The display case is formed in a cabinet that has an interior area for holding the refrigerated products. The cabinet has an access opening for enabling access to the refrigerated products. A first air conduit extends around the cabinet and has inlet and outlet air openings for directing air across the access opening in the cabinet. During a refrigeration cycle of operation, the air traveling through the first air conduit is refrigerated by a set of evaporator coils. A second air conduit extends partially around the cabinet along a path lying outwardly of the first air conduit. The second air conduit has an outlet opening positioned adjacent to the outlet opening of the first air conduit. During the refrigeration cycle, partially cooled air is emitted from the outlet opening of the second air conduit along a path across the access opening of the cabinet but lying outwardly of the air emitted from the outlet opening of the first air conduit.
