Patent number: 4346835Abstract: A multichamber gas control valve modulates and controls the flow of gas to the burner of an instantaneous water heater. Flow of gas from an inlet chamber to a first chamber of the valve is controlled by a thermostatic valve and gas flow from the first to a second chamber is controlled by a temperature controller. Gas flow from the second chamber to an outlet chamber is controlled by a spring biased valve actuated by a diaphragm actuator operated in response to flow of water through a venturi in the water supply of the heater. The several chambers are in a common valve body closed by a removable cover to provide easy access to the components of the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1981Date of Patent: August 31, 1982Inventors: Albin Trotter, Ursus Trotter

Patent number: 4346838Abstract: A timed rate control applies to a system having a device 12 for varying a medium 14, a sensor 13 for detecting variation in the medium, and a pneumatic line 11 for varying the device 12 in response to the sensor. This includes many pneumatic control systems that the invention can effectively stabilize to reduce fluctuation and improve operating accuracy and efficiency. The pneumatic line is opened and closed by a solenoid valve 17, and a setable timer 18 variably determines both closed and open intervals for the solenoid valve. The timer is connected to the solenoid valve to control alternate operation between the closed and open intervals while the system operates. This limits each adjustment to a brief duration separated by inactive periods that allow the system to stabilize.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1981Date of Patent: August 31, 1982Inventor: William L. Patent number: 4345439Abstract: The invention resides in a method of producing artificial snow directly from ice, for ski slopes. Ice is formed on a surface exposed to an ambient temperature at or below the freezing temperature of water by flowing water onto the surface. The rate of water deposition is controlled such that all of the water deposited on the surface freezer before additional water is deposited thereon. The ice is then comminuted into snow-like particles and distributed onto the slope.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1980Date of Patent: August 24, 1982Assignee: Vencraft Corp.Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 4338792Abstract: An improvement in a refrigerated display case in which an air flow restriction baffle is positioned adjacent to the discharge end of the air conduit containing the defrost ambient air band. The baffle increases the linear velocity of the air band and the air momentum sufficiently to cause the band to flow away from the access opening of the display case whereby continuous recirculation of the defrost air is avoided. The baffle can form a restricted air flow cross-sectional area which is about 50% to 90% of the cross-sectional area of the air flow conduit immediately proceeding the position of the baffle. A restricted air flow area of these amounts enable a linear velocity increase of about 10% to 100% based on the air band velocities normally used during defrost cycles.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1981Date of Patent: July 13, 1982Assignee: Tyler Refrigeration CorporationInventor: Fayez F. Patent number: 4338794Abstract: The waste water from an ice cube making machine, both from the cube unit itself and from the bin where the ice cubes are stored is supplied to an insulated heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is divided into two sections with a first cold input section being separated from the remaining portion of the unit by a baffle to avoid undue mixing of the water, and to maintain the water at the input section at a low temperature, near freezing. A heat exchange coil is located in the first section of the heat exchanger and water to be formed into ice is precooled by circulation through this coil. Additional coils are located in the remaining portion of the heat exchanger to further cool refrigerant liquid which has been condensed and is under pressure ready for return to the ice-making units. The temperature in the input section of the heat exchanger is in the order of 34 degrees F.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1980Date of Patent: July 13, 1982Inventor: Hans Haasis, Jr.
