  • Patent number: 8627743
Abstract: A distal end portion of a pedal rod is press-fitted into a press-fitting hole, which is formed in a rotatable member. An intermediate portion of the pedal rod extends from and is bent relative to the distal end portion. The intermediate portion is received in a guide groove, which is formed in the rotatable member. An elongated portion of the pedal rod extends from the intermediate portion in a direction opposite from the distal end portion. A pad is provided to an end part of the elongated portion, which is opposite from the intermediate portion, and is adapted to receive a pedal force from a driver of a vehicle. The rotatable member includes a receiving hole that is adapted to receive a jig therethrough to enable the jig to contact the intermediate portion at time of press-fitting the distal end portion into the press-fitting hole.

  • Patent number: 8613238
Abstract: A control knob for a vehicle has an improved outward appearance by forming a boundary line between two different materials in a portion that is not visible and preventing abrupt differences in color due to light refraction. The control knob is produced by dual injection molding of two different materials, is installed on one end of a shift lever, and functions as a handgrip. The control knob includes an portion of opaque and transparent materials, an overlapping portion opaque and transparent materials, and a coated portion formed of paint applied to portions of the transparent portion that do not overlap with the opaque portion. A boundary surface between the opaque and transparent portions is such that a refractive index of light passing through the transparent portion from the overlapping portion is close to a refractive index of light passing through the transparent portion from the coated portion.

  • Patent number: 8608385
Abstract: A main bearing (20) for supporting a rotating crankshaft (56) includes an upper shell (22) and a lower shell (24). An upper inner surface (32) of the upper shell (22) has an oil supply groove (26) extending circumferentially therealong, an oil stem groove (28) extending obliquely from the oil supply groove (26), and a pair of oil distribution grooves (30) extending from the oil stem groove (28) along and parallel to the oil supply groove (26) to present an F-shape along the upper inner surface (32) of the main bearing (20). The oil grooves (26, 28, 30) provide for improved lubrication of the main bearing (20) at startup and when the engine is idle or stopped, especially in electric and hybrid vehicles. The main bearing (20) also has exceptional strength and load bearing capacity.

  • Patent number: 8590417
Abstract: The trailer landing gear apparatus may be used for rotating a drive shaft of a landing gear or lifting gear of a land vehicle. There may be a drive shaft connector that may be attachable to a trailer drive shaft, A drive gear apparatus may be mounted on a rotary drive apparatus and a drive apparatus connector may be attached to a drive socket of the drive gear apparatus. The drive shaft may be rotated by positioning the drive apparatus connector on a connector shaft of the drive shaft connector. The rotary drive apparatus may then be operated to rotate the gear elements of the drive gear apparatus to rotate the drive shaft connector. The drive shaft connector may also have a hand crank handle attached to a sleeve for alternate use in drive shaft rotation.

  • Patent number: 8539858
Abstract: An accelerator pedal rotates a pedal rotor when depressed. Rotors located on both sides of the pedal rotor are relatively rotatable to the pedal rotor. Second helical teeth of the rotors project toward the pedal rotor and engage with first helical teeth of the pedal rotor to bias the rotors when the pedal rotor rotates in the accelerator opening direction. The pedal rotor is rotatable to an accelerator full-close position without interfering with the first helical teeth when the pedal rotor rotates in an accelerator closing direction. A first biasing unit biases the rotors in the accelerator closing direction. A second biasing unit biases the accelerator pedal or the pedal rotor in the accelerator closing direction.

  • Patent number: 8534160
Abstract: A retractable control device for a household electrical appliance includes a knob movable against an elastic member within an aperture or seat of a control interface of the appliance. The knob is configured to assume two working positions including a first position in which the knob is seated in the aperture and a second position in which the knob extends outwardly therefrom. The knob cooperates with a control member for a functional element of the appliance, such as an electrical resistance heater or microwave generator of an oven, or a gas burner of a cooking hob. The device also includes a cylindrical element disposed and fixed in the aperture of the control interface about the knob. The cylindrical element contains the knob when the knob is in its first position and guides its movement within the aperture along a central longitudinal axis thereof.

  • Patent number: 8506166
Abstract: Lubrication for rolling elements are made in a turnaround passage in an end cap to ensure proper and steady lubrication by the lubrication system simple in construction, with accompanying sustainable maintenance-free condition for lubrication. The end cap has an inward end surface facing directly towards the end surface of the carriage of the slider and having a concavity which sinks below the inward end surface and has openings communicating with the turnaround passages. A porous compact impregnated with lubricant is fitted into the concavity in a fashion exposed in part to the turnaround passage through the openings so that the rolling elements rolling through the turnaround passages, as coming into rolling-contact with the parts of the porous compact exposed out of the openings, are applied with the lubricant.
