Patent number: 6131382Abstract: To produce a mock yarn which is similar in appearance to a true yarn with respect to the ability to discern the components of the mock yarn after the twist has been imparted to the mock yarn, the rovings or slubbings forming the mock yarn, after drafting separately but parallel to one another in a drafting frame, are subjected separately to condensing and compaction by suction rollers or belts provided with rows of perforations. Thus compacted and condensed rovings are then combined, twisted and wound up as mock yarns. A core thread can be introduced into each roving or into at least one of the rovings upstream of the last pair of drafting rolls or immediately upstream of the condensing unit for a core mock yarn.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1999Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventors: Friedrich Dinkelmann, Andreas Olbrich

Patent number: 6101803Abstract: For piecing a yarn end at a spinning station of an open-end rotor spinning machine, the previously stopped feed roller is re-activated for a short pre-feeding period. The fiber beard, which has been thinned out by the still rotating open roller, can thus renew itself. The fibers which are combed during this pre-feeding period are removed as waste when the spinning rotor is at a standstill. After completion of the pre-feeding period, the feed roller is rotated in reverse so far back until the fiber beard leaves the area of effect of the opening roller. The feed roller is activated again for the actual piecing process.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1999Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Novibra GmbHInventors: Gerd Stahlecker, Hans Braxmeier

Patent number: 6098393Abstract: The present invention relates to a high strength steel cord(1) for pneumatic tires, which is produced by the process of drawing high strength carbon steel with carbon content of 0.91.about.2.0% by weight, plating brass on the surface of the carbon steel so that it adheres to the rubber and repeating the drawing and stranding of said carbon steel. In particular, as the steel cord is composed of a filament of two strips, the steel cord according to the present invention is of a higher strength than conventional steel cord, and therefore when it is applied to a tire, the amount of steel cord and rubber topping used can be reduced, thereby resulting in a lighter weight tire, cost savings and lower fuel consumption rate.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1999Date of Patent: August 8, 2000Assignee: Hankook Tire CompanyInventor: Yong Sig Han

Patent number: 6092356Abstract: A process for open-end spinning provides for at least one sliver being opened into single fibers. A wide fiber veil is formed from parallel single fibers extending in the direction of motion, which fiber veil is fed to a transporting surface by means of a moving collecting surface. The single fibers are transferred from the collecting surface to the transporting surface at a transfer point, whereby the direction of motion of the fiber veil is abruptly changed, however the current relative position of the single fibers remaining essentially constant. This motion direction change occurs at the transfer point, with the respective front part of the fiber veil being transferred to the transporting surface as a fiber group in a predetermined sequence, and the transporting surface moves transversely to the direction of motion of the collecting surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1998Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignees: Fritz Stahlecker, Hans StahleckerInventor: Fritz Stahlecker
