  • Patent number: 5099642
Abstract: A friction false twisting unit having three spindles and respective plurality of disks on each spindle. One spindle and its disks are on a swingable housing which swings out with respect to a stationary housing holding the other two spindles. A lower thread guide is beneath the lowest disk on the first spindle on the swingable housing. The lower thread guide eyelet opening opens toward the front spindle on the stationary housing. The lowest disk on that spindle is a thread guide disk, not a texturing disk. An upper stationary thread guide above the disks has an eyelet opening toward the rear of the housing and toward a respective lateral side of the housing depending upon whether an S twist or a Z twist is being applied to the thread, and the center of the eyelet opening of the upper thread guide is off the center of the triangle defined by the spindles.

  • Patent number: 5090191
Abstract: A gripper assembly having a plurality of tube gripping apparatus is provided for transferring full and empty bobbins between the bobbin bank of a textile fly frame and a supply creel. The gripper assembly is mounted on a traveling service unit and includes a drive device for commonly driving the tube gripping apparatus to synchronously grip and release tubes to be transferred. Each tube gripping apparatus includes an axially movable tube engaging member having gripping portions for compressively gripping a tube, a gripping portion drive member pivotally supported in a housing, and a pivot movement converting device for converting pivoting of the gripping portion drive member into axial movement of the tube engaging member. The gripping portion drive member is operatively connected to a common drive shaft of the gripper assembly for driving pivoting thereof.

  • Patent number: 5086615
Abstract: Rings and travelers such as for use on spinning frames and the like are provided with the improvement of a coating on the respective surfaces thereof, the coating being chemically deposited onto the surfaces and being uniform in thickness about each surface, the uniform thickness of the coating on each surface ranging from about 0.1 mil to about 0.5 mil, the coating including from about 15% to about 30% by volume of a particulate polymeric fluorocarbon, preferably polytetrafluoro-ethylene, dispersed in a metallic matrix which is preferably a nickel-phosphorus alloy matrix.

  • Patent number: 5083420
Abstract: In a device for the piecing of a yarn on an open-end spinning device, a yarn mover by means of which a yarn end is fed to a yarn draw-off pipe is provided. A first stop to determine the cutting position and a second stop to determine the yarn insertion position are assigned to the yarn mover. The first stop can be put out of action. In addition, a yarn length adjusting device is provided to determine the length of yarn to be fed back into the open-end spinning element. The cutting position and the yarn insertion position of the yarn mover are set for the smallest size fiber collection surface of the open-end spinning element that can be used. When larger fiber collection surfaces are used, the additional required length of yarn is readied by rotating the winding device backward.
