Abstract: A decoding apparatus and method for producing a browsable slide show and a data storage medium therefor. The decoding apparatus having a mainstream decoder, which decodes mainstream packet data including image data to be reproduced in a browsable slide show; a sub-audio decoder, which decodes sub-audio packet data including audio data attached to the image data; a mainstream system time clock (STC) counter, which provides an STC sequence for controlling the decoding time of the mainstream packet data to the mainstream decoder; and a sub-audio STC counter, which provides an STC sequence for controlling the decoding time of the sub-audio packet data to the sub-audio decoder. Accordingly, it is possible to seamlessly reproduce sub-audio data even when a user selects a forward or reverse play in the middle of reproducing still image data with the sub-audio data attached thereto in a browsable slide show.

Abstract: An information storage medium for storing multi angle data, and a recording method and a reproducing apparatus thereof. The information storage medium stores data for a plurality of angles of a scene in interleaved blocks. Sizes of the interleaved blocks are integral multiples of sizes of integral numbered aligned units that include packets. Angle change points are included in each of the interleaved blocks which allows a reproducing apparatus to seamlessly jump from one angle to another angle during reproduction of the multi angle data. A number of the angle points recorded on the information storage medium is computed so that a jumping distance required by the data during reproduction does not exceed a maximum jumping distance of a reproducing apparatus.

The present recording medium has script files including additional information about moving picture data, e.g., scene descriptive text and introduction of characters, etc. In addition, information linking each script file with a section of moving picture data to be presented with contents of the script file is included in a link data file or is contained in a filename of the script file. In reproduction of the recording medium, a script file linked with presently reproduced moving picture data section is determined and searched for based on the link data file or every filename of the script files, and contents of the found script file are presented together with the presently reproduced moving picture data. Furthermore, previously presented additional information is removed depending on data or filename of the found script file.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to provide an apparatus and a method for realizing the presentation of a content list and the reproduction of content in accordance with proper user preference on the basis of date and time at which content is viewed. Content preference values that change with time are computed. On the basis of the computed content preference values, a content list is generated for presentation to the user. For example, preference values are computed on the basis of daily time zone, holiday, weekday, and day-of-the-week and a content list in accordance with the computed preference values is generated for presentation to the user. The novel configuration allows the presentation of an optimum content list on the basis of date and time at which content is viewed, thereby realizing the selection and viewing of content that properly reflects user preference.

A program ID from additional data contained in received TV information is detected, and when layout setting data corresponding to the detected program ID is stored in a memory, the corresponding layout setting data is read out from the memory to display program video data in the set layout. When a new layout is set, the user selects an object for which a layout is to be adjusted from objects that form image data in TV information, and adjusts movement, upscaling/downscaling, display ON/OFF of the selected object.

Abstract: A time-varying image recording device controls a recording operation for recording time-varying image data in a recording medium. The time-varying image data is sequentially recorded in blocks, and block information containing the total number of blocks and so on is recorded after a series of blocks. It is determined whether a recording process result for the time-varying image data is normal or not. A block information recording capacity, which is a capacity that is necessary to record block information, is obtained based on the number of blocks already recorded in the recording medium, when the recording process result is abnormal. An address of the recording medium, at which the block information should be recorded, is sensed in accordance with the block information recording capacity.

The cursor image is moved on and between the title images and the both frame images. This television program recording/reproducing device allows a user to more effectively search for and find a desired television program to be reproduced, and can mitigate the burden on the user in an operation of reproducing a television program.

A first node may perform a find operation to determine a plurality of nodes that each store a replica of a first storage object. For each node in the plurality of nodes, the first node may establish a direct connection to the node. The first node may then access the replicas of the first storage object using the respective direct connections to the plurality of nodes. In one embodiment, the nodes may be nodes in a peer-to-peer network. Establishing a direct connection to each storage object replica may enable the first node to communicate with each node in a single hop without having to pass messages via intermediate nodes in the peer-to-peer network.

Such user preferences may include one or more of content cache size, instant replay time, advance time, FF/REV speeds, slow motion speed and overshoot correction. In one embodiment, a DVR setup menu may be used to enter the user preferences via a remote control device.
