Abstract: Heuristics for resizing displayed objects within an electronic document are disclosed. The heuristics include resizing displayed objects to predefined ratios, resizing displayed objects by predefined increments, relating resizing of displayed objects to a global reference grid, and resizing a plurality of displayed objects aligned to an axis.

Abstract: A first directional touch gesture on a display area and a second directional touch gesture on the display area are received simultaneously, wherein: the first directional touch gesture is on a left side of the display area; the second directional touch gesture is on a right side of the display area; and a first direction associated with the first directional touch gesture is identical to a second direction associated with the second directional touch gesture. Content is scaled within the display area based at least in part on the identical direction associated with the simultaneous directional touch gestures.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for operating a mobile device having stored thereon a plurality of applications (“apps”) that are each configured to capture an image. The method includes receiving first user input data requesting invocation of a given one of the applications. The given application is launched by the user. After launching the given application a user interface is presented which serves as an entry point through which ail of the image capture applications stored on the mobile device are made available to the user.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to determine a substantially perpendicular current distance from a cursor guide line that passes through a given current cursor location, to a reference point. Additional activity may include determining candidate guide lines that comprise a subset of a larger group of guide lines and that are associated with at least one drawing object, each one of the subset having a substantially perpendicular reference distance to the reference point that is within a range defined by a snapping tolerance and the current distance. A snapping location can be displayed on the closest one of the subset as measured from the current cursor location. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for reducing nuisance alarms associated with monitoring non-physiological parameters in a ventilatory system. Non-physiological parameters may include, but are not limited to, parameters that are internally monitored by the ventilator based on pre-configured ranges dictated by the manufacturer, by an applicable protocol, or by the clinician. Embodiments described herein seek to mitigate nuisance alarms by basing alarm conditions, at least in part, on an integral threshold such that an alarm is not generated when a monitored parameter briefly falls outside an acceptable range by a slight degree, but such that an alarm is generated when a monitored parameter falls outside an acceptable range by a more significant magnitude and/or duration.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a card metaphor is established, in which each activity can be represented within an area of the screen referred to as a card. In various embodiments, any of several display modes are available for viewing, interacting with, manipulating, initiating, and dismissing cards. A persistent positional relationship can be established among cards, represented by a one-dimensional sequence. Newly opened cards are generally placed at the end of the sequence, although a new card that bears a relationship to an already open card may, in some embodiments, be placed adjacent to the already open card. In various embodiments, cards may be grouped, with such groups being represented as stacks of cards or by other visually distinctive means.

Abstract: A computer system includes a display interface; a user input device interface; and a processor cooperatively operable with the display and user input device interfaces. The processor provides a browser user interface that interacts with a user to selectively indicate (i) content fields displayed in the source user interface from which information is to be sent and (ii) content fields displayed in the destination user interface which are to receive the information from the source content fields. The computer system stores an indication of the destination app registered for the topic together with an indication of the selected destination content fields which are to receive the information from the selected content fields of the source app. The source app and destination app do not publish/subscribe to each other. An intermediary brokers messages from the source app, maps the data, and sends on to the destination app.

Abstract: A computerized device can comprise a touch-enabled surface and a data processing hardware element configured by a gesture input engine to recognize an input gesture using data from the touch-enabled surface. A parameter value can be set based on determining a path traversed by the input gesture. The data processing element can comprise a processor and the gesture input engine can comprise program logic in a memory device and/or the engine may be implemented using hardware logic. Regardless, the radial input gesture can be used to set one or more parameter values without use of a direct mapping of interface coordinates to parameter values. A method can comprise tracking a plurality of input points, identifying a path defined by the plurality of input points, identifying a closed curve including the path, determining a percentage of the curve traversed by the path, and setting a parameter value based on the percentage.

Abstract: A plurality of configuration parameters for setting a device are determined by setting one or more performance parameters. The performance parameters are end-results of configuration that a user desires to achieve by setting the configuration parameters on a device. By setting the performance parameters instead of multiple configuration parameters, the user can conveniently achieve desired performance on the device without having to try many combinations of configuration parameters. When the user sets a performance parameter value, a set of configuration parameters corresponding to the performance value is computed or retrieved. The performance parameters may be set using a user interface element such as a slider that is intuitive and easy to manipulate.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for displaying tasks as interactive thumbnails for interaction therewith by a user. In use, a plurality of tasks are identified. Additionally, for each of the tasks, an interactive thumbnail is generated which is representative of the task. Furthermore, the thumbnails are displayed for interaction therewith by a user.

Abstract: Activity data generated during a day or other time period on one or more computing devices is collected and aggregated. The aggregated data is then presented through an activity review user interface. The activity review user interface can be presented on a large format display device, such as a projector or television. The activity review user interface can also be navigated using natural input methods, such as gesture and voice input.

Abstract: A mobile terminal capable of sensing a touch input, and a control method thereof are provided. The mobile terminal includes: a display unit configured to display screen information; a sensing unit configured to sense a touch input applied to the display unit; and a controller configured to display an indicator bar including at least one icon together with the screen information, and select any one of icons displayed in the indicator bar.

Abstract: Examples described herein enable a user to organize and manage e-books on a computing device that utilizes a network-based e-book service. According to some examples, a user e-book collection can be organized so that it can be displayed when archived, as well as in accordance with user-defined lists.

Abstract: A hierarchical grid (H-Grid) is used to select a customer name after preliminary navigation has been performed. The preliminary navigation serves to identify an action, category or type of page to process or display data associated with the selected customer name. The H-Grid can be used in various ways as a replacement for, enhancement or addition to, key or query-based searching to retrieve a page or perform an action. In a particular example, the H-Grid includes customer names that have data available for display according to a form associated with a selected action or category. When the user clicks a customer name in the H-Grid a current form is populated with the customer's data. Subsequent navigation to other pages of data are populated with the currently selected customer name. This approach can replace the requirement of having the user to perform a search or query to identify the customer name or record.

Abstract: A system and method include obtaining a landscape description document identifying resource elements and their connections in a computing infrastructure. The resource elements are converted into landscape user interface graphical representations of the elements. An interconnected landscape interface is generated using the graphical representations and connection information from the landscape description document.

Abstract: A system includes a computing device that includes a memory configured to store instructions. The computing device also includes a processor configured to execute the instructions to perform a method that includes defining a first portion of a display as a workspace for a graphical representation of a portion of a network of processing operations. The workspace provides a navigable view of the graphical representation for editing the displayed portion of the network. The method also includes defining at least a second portion of the display, different from first portion, for a compressed view of a portion of the network of processing operations external to the first portion of the display. The method also includes simultaneously presenting the first portion and the second portion on the display.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes within a graphical user interface (GUI) presented to a user of a software application, presenting a watchlist associated with the user, the watchlist comprising first content related to one or more first events associated with one or more entities within an organization, the one or more entities having a relationship with the user within a social graph maintained at least in part by the software application. The method further includes receiving asynchronous notifications of second content for inclusion in the watchlist, the second content related to one or more second events occurring after the first events, and automatically and without input from the user, updating the watchlist to include the second content, the update comprising organizing the watchlist with the first and second content to visually indicate an order of relevance of the first and second content to the user.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating adjusting a displayed representation of a visualization. An example method includes employing a touch-sensitive display to present a user interface display screen depicting a first visualization; and providing a first user option to apply touch input to a region of the user interface display screen coinciding with a portion of the first visualization to facilitate affecting an arrangement of data displayed via the first visualization, wherein the touch input includes a multi-touch gesture. In a more specific embodiment, the touch gesture includes a rotation gesture, and the method further includes displaying a visual indication of a change, e.g., a pivot operation, to be applied to a second visualization as a user performs the rotation gesture, and updating the second visualization as a user continues perform the rotation gesture. The first visualization is updated based on the second visualization upon completion of the rotation gesture.

Abstract: Techniques for creating a mosaic using user-created content on a content sharing site. Embodiments of the invention may provide an interface on the content sharing site to allow users to create content. Embodiments may then determine a suitability value between the user-created content and portions of a mosaic, and insert the user-created content into a particular portion of the mosaic based on the determined suitability value for the particular portion.

Abstract: Configurations for providing a widget that displays participants involved in the conversation thread and provides different graphical elements (e.g., buttons) to initiate one click actions to start a group chat, create a meeting on each participant's calendar, or start a new conversation thread. In the case of the group chat, the subject technology can include the contents of the group chat session as an additional electronic message in the conversation thread. In one example, the widget is implemented as a floating toolbar that can be positioned in the user interface while in the conversation thread view.
