Abstract: A photosensitive element is provided by an actinic radiation-transmissive film-forming polymeric material which contains photolabile blocked surfactant capable upon exposure to actinic radiation of releasing a detectable quantity of surfactant in actinic radiation exposed areas in areas not exposed to actinic radiation and unblocked surfactant in an image-wise pattern in the actinic radiation exposed areas. An imaging process is also provided comprising providing the actinic radiation-sensitive element and exposing the actinic radiation-sensitive element to actinic radiation in an image-wise pattern at an intensity and for a time sufficient to release an image-wise pattern of released surfactant in the exposed area.

Abstract: A photosensitive member having a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion coating as the photosensitive layer and at least one sheet of pryoelectric and photovoltaic polyvinylidene fluoride sheet or copolymer thereof in close proximity (e.g., adjacent) to the photosensitive layer is disclosed. During exposure of the photosensitive member, the pyroelectric and photoelectric sheet produces a voltage across the photosensitive layer, which increases the efficiency of the photoelectrons produced by exposure of the photosensitive layer and therefore increases the sensitivity or speed of the photosensitive member. The at least one sheet can be provided as at least part of the support base for the photosensitive layer and/or as a screen overlying the photosensitive layer.
Abstract: An image-forming photosensitive composition comprises:(a) an organohalogen compound capable of forming a free radical by the irradiation with light,(b) a substantially colorless dye which colors when it is contacted with an acidic substance,(c) an aromatic amine and/or conjugated nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound,(d) a binder, and(e) an aliphatic amine and/or alicyclic amine.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are described for non-impact printing of single and multi-ply business form assemblies, utilizing an electromagnetic radiation reactant chemical mixture which is selectively coated in one or more plies of the assemblies causing the plies to form images when selectively heated by the action of a controlled source by passing the radiation, such as microwave energy, through the business form assemblies.

Abstract: A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a light-insensitive uppermost layer is disclosed. The light-insensitive uppermost layer has a melting time longer than that of the light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and the thickness of the light-insensitive uppermost layer is from 1.3 .mu.m to 5.0 .mu.m. The silver halide photographic light-sensitive material has an improved covering power and results in remarkably low degree of reticulation. Furthermore, when the material is used it results in a reduced amount of scum being formed in the processing solution.

Abstract: Imaging films and film-forming compositions are provided which include a reducible tellurium compound, a reductant precursor, a source of labile hydrogen incorporated in a matrix. The reductant precursors are of the formulae ##STR1## where Y.sub.1 is alkoxy, Y.sub.2 is chloro or alkoxy and Y.sub.3 is hydrogen, chloro or alkoxy.Methods are provided for synthesizing the reductant precursors.
Abstract: The use of oxythioamido substituted arylhydrazides in producing images in silver halide photographic elements is disclosed. The oxythioamido substituted arylhydrazide can be incorporated in photographic silver halide emulsions. The oxythioamido substituent is capable of promoting adsorption of the arylhydrazide to silver halide grain surfaces. In negative working surface latent image forming emulsions the oxythioamido substituted arylhydrazides permit higher speeds to be achieved. In direct positive internal latent image forming emulsions increased nucleation activity can be achieved.
Abstract: A 6-substituted-2,4-bis(trichloromethyl)-s-triazine stabilizer precursor which has a maximum absorption wavelength greater than 320 nanometers and is thermally stable at temperatures up to 150.degree. C. provides improved post-processing stability in a photothermographic silver halide material designed for dry physical development. Such a photothermographic material comprises photographic silver halide and an image forming combination comprising (i) an organic silver salt oxidizing agent, with (ii) a reducing agent for the organic silver salt oxidizing agent. A developed visible image is provided after imagewise exposure by uniformly heating the photothermographic material to moderately elevated temperatures.
Abstract: An optical information recording medium capable of recording optical information thereon by application of high density energy beams thereto, the recorded information being thereafter reproducible therefrom, comprising a base and a recording layer formed on the base, the recording layer comprising a fluorine phthalocyanine of the following formula and capable of absorbing light with a wavelength of 700 nm or more: ##STR1## where M represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a metal, a metal oxide and a metal halide, X represents fluorine; and n is an integer from 1 to 16.
Abstract: Small amounts of radical traps resorcylaldehyde oxime and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and organic oxidants 2-chloro-5-nitrobenzylchloride, p-nitro-o-chlorobenzyl thiosulfate and 2-(p-nitrobenzyl)thiopyridinium bromide reduce the fog and stabilize the aging of medical X-ray emulsion with little or no effect on speed.
Abstract: A heat-developable photographic material is disclosed. The material is comprised of (a) an organic silver salt, (b) a photocatalyst, (c) a reducing agent, (d) a binder, and (e) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of 2-trihalogenomethyl-3,4-oxadiazoles and the derivatives thereof as an antifogging agent. The use of component (e) does not present environmental pollution problems and successfully reduces fog density.

Abstract: Imaging compositions employing a tellurium compound, a reductant precursor, a masked reducing agent and a source of labile hydrogen are improved by the inclusion of a base which may be inorganic or organic. Suitable inorganic bases include alkali metal hydroxides, alkaline earth metal hydroxides and ammonium hydroxide. Suitable organic bases include amines and heterocyclic nitrogen atom containing compounds.
