  • Patent number: 9204556
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide apparatus and methods of screen printing a pattern on a substrate. In one embodiment, a patterned layer is printed onto a surface of a substrate along with a plurality of alignment marks. The locations of the alignment marks are measured with respect to a feature of the substrate to determine the actual location of the patterned layer. The actual location is compared with the expected location to determine the positional error of the patterned layer placement on the substrate. This information is used to adjust the placement of a patterned layer onto subsequently processed substrates.

  • Patent number: 9186692
Abstract: In an absorbent sheet manufacturing apparatus, a storage part stores speed determining information including relationships between conveying speed of a first sheet member and rotational speed of a supply cylinder and corresponding respectively to target particle densities. A control part determines the rotational speed of the supply cylinder on the basis of a target particle density, the conveying speed and the speed determining information. Even if various changes are made to the conveying speed of the first sheet member, the amount of particles supplied can be accurately controlled such that the density of particles on the first sheet member matches the target particle density. Even if various changes are made to the target particle density, the amount of particles supplied can be accurately controlled in consideration of the conveying speed such that the density of particles matches the target particle density.

  • Patent number: 9157246
Abstract: A method for extruding and depositing a slurry or mortar onto a selected work surface uses a mortar gun assembly with a chamber for receiving mortar from a remote supply hopper and an extruder configured to selectively apply a bead or ribbon of mortar of selected thickness onto the work surface. The mortar gun assembly provides mortar from the hopper under pressure and the user selectively applies mortar by controlling a rotating port valve between the hopper and the mortar gun chamber. The rotating port valve provides a “rest state” in which the mortar is not sent to the mortar gun, but is instead re-circulated by the pump back to the hopper so un-dispensed mortar is kept moving and cannot dry or set.

  • Patent number: 9155663
Abstract: A method of dispensing adhesive onto a stretched elastic strand includes applying a first volume of adhesive onto a first portion of the elastic strand, applying a second volume of adhesive onto a second portion of the elastic strand, and applying a third volume of adhesive onto a third portion of the elastic strand. The second volume is less than the first and third volumes. When the elastic strand is adhered to a substrate to form a personal disposable hygiene product, the first and third portions of the elastic strand define opposing ends of the elastic strand, which are adhered with a larger amount of adhesive to resist creep at the opposing ends. The reduction of adhesive in the second or central portion between the opposing ends significantly reduces the adhesive add on in the personal disposable hygiene product.

  • Patent number: 9126222
Abstract: A hot melt adhesive material dispensing system comprises two separate and independent rotary, gear-type metering pumps, or two separate and independent sets of pumps, which are able to output precisely metered amounts of hot melt adhesive material. The hot melt adhesive materials discharged are able to be independently outputted through suitable output devices onto a substrate to result in different outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive material in accordance with predeterminedly desired patterns, or at predeterminedly desired locations. The hot melt adhesive materials may also have their volumetric outputs combined such that the discharged or outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive material onto the substrate may be, for example, twice the outputted volumes of the hot melt adhesive outputted onto the substrate from only one of the two pumps, or from only one of the two pumps.
