Abstract: Armor for protection against projectiles, shrapnel, blades, and other penetrants has an inner container subdivided into cells, with the cells being filled with a slurry made of dilatant (shear-thickening fluid) and hard particles. The opposing outer surfaces of the container are shielded by ballistic fabric layers and hard outer plates, with the container, fabric layers, and plates then preferably being bound together by an outer envelope. The various layers of the armor cooperate to provide high protection against penetrants, while at the same time providing lightweight and easily repairable armor suitable for cladding of personnel, vehicles, buildings, and other structures.
Abstract: Melatonin tablets with a high concentration of citric acid are packaged in a blister package that enhances storage stability. Such a packaging material includes a blister film forming a cavity holding the tablet therein. The blister film includes a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film having a thickness of 180 ?m to 270 ?m coated with a polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) coating having a coating weight of 110 g/m2 to 130 g/m2. An aluminum foil lid closes the cavity and encapsulates the tablet within the blister film and lid. The lid has a thickness of 20 ?m to 30 ?m.

Abstract: A passage incorporated into an additively manufactured object, the object and a related method are disclosed. The object has an additive manufacture build direction. The passage includes: a first portion aligned along an axis oriented less than approximately 45° from the build direction; and a second portion aligned along an axis oriented greater than approximately 45° from the build direction, the second portion including at least one self-supporting top surface portion including at least one edge aligned no greater than approximately 45° from the build direction. The passage having varying cross-sectional shape along a non-linear length accommodates additive manufacture regardless of build direction.

Abstract: A resin frame includes frame members combined into a frame shape that includes a corner portion, and a joint portion joining a pair of the frame members which are adjacent to each other at the corner portion. The joint portion includes an entire-surface welded portion, in which end surfaces of the pair of the frame members are welded to each other over an entire surface in a thickness direction of a plate portion of the frame members, and a partial welded portion, in which the end surfaces of the pair of the frame members are welded to each other on one side of the entire surface in the thickness direction while another side of the entire surface in the thickness direction is not welded. The entire-surface welded portion and the partial welded portion are present at different portions on an outer periphery of the joint portion.

In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, there is provided an identifiable armored cable sheath comprising: an armored cable sheath having an outer surface, and a visual indicia applied on the outer surface of the cable sheath in a patterned arrangement, wherein the visual indicia possesses visibility features in low light. Another aspect of the present invention provides a method of making an identifiable armored cable sheath comprising: providing an armored cable sheath, and applying a visually distinctive tape to the outer surface of the sheath in a patterned arrangement.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel packaging articles, e.g., food and beverage cans, having a novel coating composition applied to at least a portion of a surface thereon. In preferred embodiments, the coating composition includes at least a film-forming amount of a copolyester resin having a backbone that includes one or more soft segments and a plurality of hard segments. The copolyester resin preferably has a glass transition temperature from about from about 10° C. to about 50° C. The present invention also provides a method for making coated articles.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel packaging material for sterilization which has processing suitability as a packaging material, is compatible with all sterilization processing methods such as those performed under high-temperature conditions, has small variation in shapes and dimensions, and is capable of maintaining an internal sterilized condition. This packaging material for sterilization is configured from at least two layers of laminated non-woven fabrics comprising a non-woven fabric layer (I) formed of continuous long fibers having an average fiber diameter of 5-30 ?m and a non-woven fabric layer (II) formed of ultra-fine fibers having an average fiber diameter of 0.1-4 ?m.
Abstract: A laminate sheet, particularly an aluminium-based laminate comprises polyethylene having a density of 0.90-0.96 g/cc, a polyethylene-based film having a melting temperature of less than 240° C.; low density polyethylene in order to provide high adhesion; an aluminium barrier film, and a polyethylene-based film having a sealing property. Minute protrusions are formed on the surface of the outer resin layer or the inner resin layer, and the minute protrusion structure has a fractal dimension of 1.08 to 1.17, wherein the fractal dimension is a numeric value calculated by the box count method at a resolution at which the length per one pixel is 0.5-1.0 ?m.

A continuous fiber sheet includes a bottom surface portion which forms a bottom surface of the resin case, an erected wall portion which is erected from the bottom surface portion and forms a peripheral wall of the resin case, and a stepped portion in which the continuous fiber sheet connecting the bottom surface portion and the erected wall portion to each other is bent like steps along the peripheral wall.
