  • Patent number: 9928615
Abstract: A 3D model can be modeled using “pattern-instance” representation, wherein an instance component may be represented as transformation (for example, rotation, translation, and scaling) of a pattern. To improve compression efficiency, the quantization parameters for the rotation part and translation part for transformation of an instance can be determined based on the quantization parameter used for encoding a corresponding pattern. Specifically, the quantization parameter for the rotation part may depend on the size of the instance, and the quantization parameter for the translation part may depend on the scale of translation. That is, a larger instance may use a finer quantization parameter for the rotation part. The quantization parameters are so determined that quantization errors caused by compressing the patterns, the translation part of transformation, and the rotation part of transformation are at similar levels.

  • Patent number: 9898859
Abstract: A storage unit stores structure data that includes coordinates of vertices of a plurality of polygons representing a three-dimensional structure. A computation unit calculates coordinates of a certain point with reference to the structure data. This point is used, together with the vertices of the polygons, to produce a graph from the structure data according to spatial arrangement of the polygons and further to calculate characteristic quantities based on the produced graph. The computation unit stores the calculated coordinates of the point in a memory device, as a piece of information relating to the structure data.

  • Patent number: 9892484
Abstract: A memory access request associated with a data unit is received from a first thread of a pixel shader. A processing status associated with the data unit is obtained from a window buffer. It is determined whether the data unit is being processed by a second thread. If so, a rejection procedure is performed to avoid the first thread gaining to access an attribute value associated with the data unit from/to a DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory). Otherwise, an acknowledgement procedure is performed to grant the first thread to access the attribute value associated with the data unit from/to the DRAM.

  • Patent number: 9858646
Abstract: A method of enhancing a visual image of a display is described. The visual image is displayed on a first display of a display device having a first display pixel density and a first display dimension. The display device detects an enhancer device oriented in an operable position to the display device. The enhancer display device has a second display having a second display pixel density higher than the first display pixel density and a second display dimension less than the first display dimension. A spatial orientation is determined between the first display of the display device with the second display of the enhancer display device. The display device sends the visual image and the spatial orientation to the enhancer display device to display a portion of the visual image that is defined by the spatial orientation on the second display in the second display pixel density.

  • Patent number: 9830726
Abstract: A system for real-time or near real-time coordination of personnel and a method for creating a gridded reference graphic (GRG) for use in such a system is provided. A GRG is created by obtaining imagery of an area a team is to be operating in, wherein the imagery is obtained from overhead, taken from a position substantially orthogonal to the central portion of the area of operation. A grid, which may then be further modified with labels allowing identification of areas within the grid, is then overlaid thereon, creating a GRG. The GRG may then be served to personnel and displayed on a user device. The system includes a GRG comprising scale images of an intended area of operation, a labeled grid overlaid thereon and a scale for measurement of distances wherein the GRG are dispersed among and displayed to personnel.

  • Patent number: 9811929
Abstract: A method for creating a graphical representation of data is performed at an electronic device having one or more processors and memory. The device receives a finite set of data points and calculates a respective conical distribution for each respective data point centered on the respective data point and based on a respective data value. Each conical distribution comprises a set of locations and a unique distribution value corresponding to each location. The device determines that a first data value of a first data point is less than a distribution value for a second data point. The distribution value has a location that corresponds to the first data point. Based on that determination, the device calculates an inverse conical distribution in a region around the first data point. The device combines the conical distributions and inverse conical distributions to display a data visualization that includes each of the data points.

  • Patent number: 9767532
Abstract: A method and system is implemented at an electronic device for displaying output from an application on a fixed orientation display. The electronic device includes a display module and an application. The application sends a request to display output from the application in a second orientation with second dimensions, and receives from the electronic device a notification that a display associated with the electronic device is a fixed orientation display with a first orientation and first dimensions. The application then obtains application data verifying that it is able to scale the output for displaying in an orientation and dimensions different from the requested second orientation and second dimensions, and determines optimal dimensions to display the output from the application based on the first orientation and first dimensions associated with the fixed display. The electronic device then scales output data to match the determined optimal dimensions.
