  • Patent number: 10834391
Abstract: Example systems and methods perform streaming of volumetric media and accommodate high user interactivity. A device is configured to access and render streaming holograms and may implement a window as a buffer. In addition, a hologram streaming machine can be configured to stream full or partial holograms in the form of 3D blocks, where different 3D blocks represent a same portion of hologram but may have different resolutions depending on where the user is positioned and looking relative to each 3D block, thus saving network capacity by focusing on what the user is looking at. Since many 3D blocks may be empty much of the time, may be occluded or far away from the user's viewing position, or may be numerous within a 3D space, the device can be configured to request 3D blocks based on their utility, which may be calculated based on bitrate, visibility, or distance.

  • Patent number: 10818065
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for intelligently blending inverse kinematic (IK) solutions to more naturally depict joint positioning and/or movement of digital animated characters. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the character animation system can blend two IK solutions for an elbow joint based on a shoulder angle. For example, the character animation system can utilize a blending region to dynamically blend IK solutions as the shoulder angle moves through the blending region, thereby smoothly modifying bend direction and elbow position of the animated character arm. Based on the modified elbow position relative to a wrist position and a shoulder position, the animated character system can simulate more accurate, natural arm movements while reducing time and interactions needed to generate realistic animation sequences.

  • Patent number: 10817338
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention set forth techniques for allocating execution resources to groups of threads within a graphics processing unit. A compute work distributor included in the graphics processing unit receives an indication from a process that a first group of threads is to be launched. The compute work distributor determines that a first subcontext associated with the process has at least one processor credit. In some embodiments, CTAs may be launched even when there are no processor credits, if one of the TPCs that was already acquired has sufficient space. The compute work distributor identifies a first processor included in a plurality of processors that has a processing load that is less than or equal to the processor loads associated with all other processors included in the plurality of processors. The compute work distributor launches the first group of threads to execute on the first processor.

  • Patent number: 10769756
Abstract: A method is implemented at an electronic device for displaying output from an application. The electronic device includes a display module and an application. The application sends to the display module a request to display output on the fixed orientation display. The display module determines whether the application is able to scale the output from the application to fit the fixed orientation display. In accordance with a determination that the application is able to scale the output, the electronic device causes the application to receive information concerning the fixed orientation display from the display module and scale the output for display on the fixed orientation display according to the information. In accordance with a determination that the application is not able to scale the output, the display module scales the output received from the application, thereby enabling the output of the application to be displayed on the fixed orientation display.

  • Patent number: 10769824
Abstract: Computer method and system draws a 3D object, by sketching at least one first stroke (ST1) in a first plane (PL1) rendered in a first viewing frustum corresponding to a first pose of a virtual camera. The first plane (PL1) is orthogonal to a second (PL2) and a third plane (PL3). In response to a command of a user switching from the first pose to a second pose of the virtual camera, the method and system switches from the first viewing frustum to a second viewing frustum corresponding to the second pose of the virtual camera. The second viewing frustum is bounded by a near plane on the side of the virtual camera. Next a plane is selected as current drawing plane. The selected plane is among the first (PL1), the second (PL2) and the third plane (PL3), whose normal is the closest to the normal of the near plane. At least one second stroke (ST2) is then sketched in the current drawing plane.
