  • Patent number: 10052826
Abstract: A method for performing resin infusion into a dry reinforcement on a layup mandrel comprises placing resin at a resin zone on the mandrel; bagging the reinforcement and the resin with a bagging film; heating the resin while applying compaction pressure to the bagging film to cause the resin to be infused into the reinforcement; and creating a pressure differential outside of the bagging film over the resin zone to control rate and pressure at which the resin is infused into the reinforcement. As a result, the resin pressure and infusion rate are controlled independently of the compaction pressure on the reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 10022911
Abstract: Provided is a three-dimensional modeling apparatus including a stage, a constraining body, a supply nozzle, an irradiation unit, and a movement mechanism. The constraining body includes a surface including a linear region along a first direction, and is opposed to the stage so that the linear region is the closest to the stage. The supply nozzle supplies a material curable by energy of an energy ray into a slit region between the stage and the linear region. The irradiation unit irradiates the supplied material with the energy ray through the constraining body. The movement mechanism moves the stage relative to the constraining body along a second direction for forming a cured layer of the material for one layer, and moves the constraining body and the stage relative to each other along a stacking direction for stacking the cured layers.

  • Patent number: 9981415
Abstract: A method and apparatus for extrusion of an article is provided. A die assembly can apply flows of thermoplastic material to an array of reinforcing cables to form a composite extrusion. A slider fabric can be bonded to one side of the composite extrusion. After exiting the die assembly, the slider fabric can act to support the extrudate as it passes along an elongate mandrel, which can cause the base of the slider fabric to change shape from a flat profile to the final internal profile of the article. The extruded article can then be cooled to solidify the material. The die can include cooling for the slider fabric and means for promoting penetration of the thermoplastic into reinforcing cables.
