  • Patent number: 7787448
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a system for transparent transport of optical channel transmission unit (OTU) signals via an optical transport network (OTN), which includes a transmitting unit and a receiving unit at the OTN network boundary: the transmitting unit converts an OTUj signal mapping entering the OTN network into OTUk signals of the current OTN network for transmission. In the mean time, it reserves the OTUj control overhead, or extracts the OTUj control overhead and transfers it to the reserved overhead location; the receiving unit receives the OTUk signals arriving at the OTN network boundary, and performs demapping and converting them into OTUj signals.

  • Patent number: 7764710
Abstract: If an input word bit includes overhead data, the input word bit is ignored. If the input word bit includes non-overhead data and the corresponding bit position in a first buffer is empty, the non-overhead data is stored in the corresponding bit position in the first buffer, and the corresponding bit position in the first buffer is marked as full. Otherwise, the non-overhead data is stored in the corresponding bit position in a second buffer, and the corresponding bit position in the second buffer is marked as full. When all bit positions in the first buffer are marked as full, the data is shifted out of the first buffer, rotated to be in data arrival sequence, and made available for further processing. Then, the data in the second buffer is transferred to the first buffer, and the bit positions in second buffer are reset to be marked as empty.

  • Patent number: 7756001
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of deciding symbols in a M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) system are provided. The apparatus includes: a linear transform unit performing linear transform, to which a phase error is applied, of a received pair of symbols; and a symbol decision unit deciding a transmitted symbol corresponding to the received pair of symbols according to the sign value of the transformed symbol pair. According to the apparatus and method, degradation of a symbol error rate caused by a phase error when an MPSK signal is demodulated can be improved and a phase error can be estimated through a simple method.

  • Patent number: 7742480
Abstract: A method and structure are disclosed for dispatching appropriate data to a network processing system comprising an improved technique for extracting protocol header fields for use by the network processor. This technique includes basic classification of a packet according to the types of protocol headers present in the packet. Based on the results of the classification, specific parameter fields are extracted from corresponding headers. All such parameter fields from one or more protocol headers in the packet are concatenated into a compressed dispatch message. Multiples of such dispatch messages are bundled into a single composite dispatch message. Thus, selected header fields from N packets are passed to the network processor in a single composite dispatch message, increasing the network processor's packet forwarding capacity by a factor of N.

  • Patent number: 7720059
Abstract: A traffic exchanging method for a mobile node in a mobile network reduces packet loss during hand-over latency, and defines new messages in order to prevent packet disorder. By defining a message indicating that earlier received packets have all been delivered, it is possible to prevent packet disorder. This has an effect of reducing packet loss and preventing packet disordering while a mobile host exchanges traffic in a mobile network. This solves the performance degradation of application layer protocol caused by packet disordering.

  • Patent number: 7715311
Abstract: The initial transmission of data packets in a point-to-multipoint communication network may often be delayed when retransmissions of erroneously decoded data packets are required. According to an aspect of the present invention, point-to-multipoint data transmission and retransmission of erroneously decoded data from a transmitting station to a plurality of receiving stations is performed, where retransmitted data is sent via at least one communication channel, which is different from the one used for the initially transmitted data. Advantageously, due to this there may be no need for further communication between the transmitting station and the receiving stations. Furthermore, according to an aspect of the present invention, the initial transmission of data packets is not delayed by retransmissions.

  • Patent number: 7660329
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing protocol information used in exchanging communications is provided. One or more protocol profiles are stored. Each of the protocol profiles is associated with a protocol. One or more transaction profiles are stored. Each of the transaction profiles identifies a combination of protocol profiles. One or more trading partner transaction profiles are stored. Each of the trading partner transaction profiles identifies a configuration of protocols for exchanging communications with a receiving party. After storing the profiles, a particular parameter value of a particular protocol profile is updated to identify an updated value without updating any of the transaction profiles. Updating the particular parameter value causes the updated value to be inherited by at least one of the transaction profiles. An application may obtain the updated value by accessing a profile that references the particular protocol profile.
