  • Patent number: 7128432
Abstract: A backlighting display assembly for an LCD that utilizes a plurality of LEDs that are in spaced relation adjacent to the LCD such that the LEDs do not directly light the LCD and instead a reflective material such as a potted material is placed in parallel spaced alignment from the LCD and LEDs such that light is reflected off of the reflected surface to illuminate the interior LCD and open target areas of the circuit board of the assembly thus providing proper lighting for the LCD, transparent and semi-transparent areas of the graphic overlay of the control panel.

  • Patent number: 7125149
Abstract: A lamp assembly 10 has a light source 12 having two sealed electrodes 14, 16, sealed in a seal area 17 and defining a lamp axis 18. A concave shell 20 has an internal surface 22 with a reflective surface 23 formed thereon. The concave shell 20 has a neck 24 defining a neck cavity 26 and a reflector axis 28. The neck 24 is provided with an electrical connection 30 and a mechanical support for the light source 12. The shell 20 surrounds the source 12 to reflect light from the source 12 to a field to be illuminated during lamp operation. The source 12 and the reflector surface 23 are oriented with the lamp axis 18 substantially co-axial with the reflector axis 28, and at least a portion of at least one of the electrodes, for example, 14, extends into the neck cavity 26. A zone 32 is formed in the neck cavity 26 for substantially redirecting specular reflection away from the seal area.

  • Patent number: 7114838
Abstract: The backlight module includes a reflective sheet, at least one point light unit with a dish lens on the reflective sheet. The dish lens has a light-permeable surface formed on the bottom of the dish lens, a light-reflecting surface formed on top of the dish lens, two smooth curve surfaces formed on two side of the dish lens for connecting the light-reflecting surface and the light-permeable surface, and a light-scattering surface on the center of the light-reflecting surface. The profile of the light-permeable surface and the light-reflecting surface are a substantially concave shape. The profile of the light-scattering surface is a substantially convex shape. A light emitting diode (LED) device includes a light emitting semiconductor device and a dish lens encapsulating the light emitting semiconductor device. The dish lens allows the light beams emitted by the LED to diffuse more uniformly, resulting in a more uniform backlight emission.

  • Patent number: 7104666
Abstract: A cooling chamber 10 for a microtome 1 is disclosed. A knife 2 having a cutting edge 16 is arranged in the cooling chamber 10 opposite a sample holder 4 having a sample 4a retained therein. The microtome 1 further possesses a stereomicroscope 12 having an optical system 14, the optical system 14 defining an optical axis 11. The region of the sample 4a and of the cutting edge 16 of the knife 2 is observable with the stereomicroscope 12. There is mounted in the cooling chamber 10 an illumination system 20 that emits light 20a and is directed onto a surface 2a of the knife 2 in such a way that the light 20a reflects from the surface 2a parallel to the optical axis 11.

  • Patent number: 7021784
Abstract: An archery arrow including conventional components such as a tubular shaft, a pointed head attached to the forward end of the shaft, fletching on the rearward portion of the shaft and a nock at the rear end of the shaft. The arrow structure also includes an illuminated nock of the present invention and includes a battery/switch/collar/L.E.D-combined unit, which is held in place by a single anchor pin with the L.E.D. portion of the battery inside a conventional translucent or clear nock. The arrow shaft also uses a wooden dowel or other like material to create a backstop and cushion within the arrow shaft. This may also be permanently constructed as part of the arrow shaft during manufacturing. This helps disperse the load generated from the strings forward motion when released from the bow in a full drawn position between the end cap and the entire battery and switch assembly.
