Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling use of multiple digital rights management scenarios (DRM). Unencrypted data representing digital content is examined to identify at least segments of content for DRM encryption. The identified segments of content are duplicated and then encrypted using a first encryption method associated with a first DRM to produce first encrypted segments. Duplicates are encrypted using a second encryption method associated with a second DRM to produce second encrypted segments. At least a portion of segments not selected for DRM encryption are encrypted using a coverage encryption method. The coverage encryption key is encrypted by each of a third and fourth encryption methods associated with the first and second DRMs respectively. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for facilitating a RF transaction using a secondary transaction number that is associated with a user's primary transponder account. The user provides the secondary transaction number, often with limited-use conditions associated therewith, to a merchant to facilitate a more secure and confident transaction.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for providing access to a virtual object corresponding to a real object. There is provided a method comprising authenticating a user account for a networked application, confirming a validity of a user provided code, wherein the code is visible on the real object or on accompanying materials of the real object, and granting the user account access to the virtual object for use in the networked application in response to the confirming of the validity. As a result, users are enabled to enjoy interactions with real objects as well as corresponding virtual objects both in an offline video game context and in an online network application context.

Abstract: A method and system for transferring licenses between electronic devices supporting licensable features. Specifically, in a method a request is generated for transferring a license between first and second electronic devices. The request includes first information unique to the first electronic device, second information unique to the second electronic device. The request is sent to a license distributor to generates a master key. The master key includes a removal key including the first information and an add key including the second information. The removal key is used to remove the license from the first electronic device when the first information matches official versions of the first information. The add key is revealed from the master key when the license is successfully removed. The add key is used to add the license to the second electronic device when the second information matches official versions of the second information.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for in-band transaction verification are described. The system and method for in-band transaction verification may include a transaction verification component. The transaction verification component may be configured to provide a transaction confirmation request that includes one or more machine readable resistant security media objects to indicate one or more transaction details for a transaction as well as a confirmation code for confirming the transaction. The transaction verification component may also be configured to receive a response to the confirmation request, such as a response from the user that submitted the transaction request. If the response includes a response code that is the same as the confirmation code, the transaction verification component may complete the transaction. If the response includes a response code that is different than the confirmation code, the transaction verification component may abort the transaction.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to transparent and/or non-disruptive systems and methods for monitoring and analyzing actual space utilization, and in particular, analyzing space utilization over time and/or in real time to accurately understand and report the utilization of the space. In particular, the disclosed embodiments analyze data representative of occupancy of the space, the data being autonomously determined based on the likelihood that occupants are present within the space. The data is periodically determined and automatically reported to an automated collection system which collects the data and forwards it to a central repository for analysis. The data is then analyzed to provide meaningful reports regarding occupancy of the space or otherwise contextualize the utilization of the space. Further, the data collected from different spaces may be anonymized, aggregated, or otherwise combined, and analyzed to contextualize a given space's utilization, provide utilization forecasts, etc.

The personal health management device generally include an electronic controller and at least one memory device which cooperate to store at least temporarily weight management data for managing the weight of at least one user, such as a user's weight, a user's body fat percentage, exercise data, food consumption data, or a combination thereof, obtained from at least one component for obtaining such data, such as a keypad, a body fat percentage sensor for measuring a user's body fat percentage, a scale for measuring a user's weight, an exercise machine, a food scale, etc, and a communications unit for communicating the data obtained to a healthcare provider for monitoring progress with respect to a weight management program over a communications network.

Abstract: A method for registering biometric information for use in a transponder-reader system is disclosed. The method includes steps of detecting, verifying and storing a proffered biometric sample. During detecting, a sensor detects a proffered biometric to obtain a biometric sample. During the verifying step, the biometric sample is compared with other stored samples and/or other information. During the storing step, the biometric sample is stored on a database, for use by the transponder-reader system in authorizing transactions.

Authentication data and an electronic key are generated, whereby the electronic key is stored as assigned to the authentication data. At least part of the electronic key is transmitted by means of an authentication module of the central module to a communications terminal. Asynchronously to that, data are encrypted into encrypted data by means of an encryption module and by means of at least part of the electronic key. The encrypted data are transmitted between a central module and a communications terminal. The encrypted data are decrypted by means of a decryption module and by means of at least part of the electronic key.

An assembly tool is provided for bringing diverse educational resources together to create customized course material for the instruction of students. A replication element is configured to update each resource and assure access to each updated resource. The system and method of the present invention responds to the instructor's creativity, allowing the instructor to shape and control the instructional materials and process, and allowing instructors from diverse institutions to exchange, share, modify and improve educational materials.

The NOR flash includes a first image sector which stores the first part of the old firmware, a second image sector which stores the second part of the old firmware, and a third image sector for backup the old firmware. The embedded network device obtains a first part and a second part of new firmware and store the new firmware in the memory, reads the first part of the old firmware from the first image sector and writes to the third image sector, reads the first part of the new firmware form the memory and writes to the first image sector, reads the second part of the new firmware from the memory and writes to the third image sector.

Abstract: A system for transacting in a network includes a service broker connected to the network, having access to necessary credentials, a service provider connected to the network, requiring credentials for transacting in regard to a client, and a client station connected to the network. A client using the client station sends a preliminary request for a transaction to the service broker, which initiates, at the appropriate time, the transaction for the client by a request to the service provider, accompanied by the appropriate credentials, and the service broker monitors the service provider after the write request for an acknowledgement of the request.

Abstract: Between an IC card (1) and a electronic ticket server (2), upon purchasing an electronic ticket a public key cryptosystem is employed for a mutual authentication to keep a strict security, and a shared secret between the electronic ticket and a ticket collecting machine is sent on a secure channel as well as the electronic ticket. Upon usage of the electronic ticket, the IC card (1) and the ticket collecting machine (6) mutually judge whether they carry out the mutual authentication by using a public key cryptosystem or a symmetric key cryptosystem. When they determine to use the symmetric key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the shared secret exchanged beforehand. When they determine to use the public key cryptosystem, they carry out the mutual authentication by using the same method as that used upon purchasing the electronic ticket.

Abstract: A dongle for digital rights management protection, in accordance with one embodiment of the present technology, includes a digital right management engine and an encryption/decryption engine. The digital rights management engine is adapted to port digital rights management rules of a source of content to digital rights management rules enforced by the digital rights management engine. The encryption/decryption engine is adapted to re-encrypting the source of content into a managed copy of the content, wherein the managed copy of the content is locked to the dongle.
